A. Do an electrical continuity check of the propeller blade heater elements as follows:

(1) Make sure that the connections of the bus bars at the slip ring and blade terminal ends on
the backplate are serviceable.
(2) If the busbar connections are not satisfactory, torque the bolts and nuts to between 28.5 and
31.3 lbf in (3,22 to 3,56 N m): refer to PS51002−1.
(3) If the busbar connections are satisfactory, do a resistance check between the slip rings that
follow:
(a) The inner ring to middle ring.
(b) The inner ring to outer ring.
(c) The middle ring to outer ring.
(4) The resistance must be between 10 and 12 ohms. If the resistance is not in this range,
continue with this procedure. If the resistance is satisfactory, return to service.
NOTE: The harness build is such that there may be no indication of an intermittent fault.
During the resistance check, move the applicable propeller de−ice lead to find
any possible intermittent fault in the circuit.
(5) Inspect the area under the blade cuff platform. Make sure that the electrical connections are
clean and are not contaminated with grease, sealing paint or adhesive.
(6) To make sure that the resistance reading for the blade heater elements is accurate, do the
procedures given in steps (a) to (d) that follow:
(a) Disconnect, in turn, each de−icer wire harness from the terminals on the propeller
blade assembly.
(b) Isolate the leads of the de−icer wire harness.
(c) Reinstall the nuts onto the terminals on the propeller blade assembly and tighten the
nuts.
(d) Do a resistance check at the terminals of the blade assembly. The resistance must be
between 30.1 and 33.2 ohms. If the resistance is not in this range, replace the blade
assembly and bearing (Refer to TASK 61−10−01−000−801 and TASK
61−10−01−400−801). If the resistance is satisfactory, continue with this procedure.
(7) Remove each de−icer wire harness from the propeller (Refer to TASK 61−10−06−000−805).
Do a continuity check of each de−icer wire harness. If the continuity is not satisfactory,
replace the de−icer wire harness (Refer to TASK 61−10−06−000−805 and TASK
61−10−06−400−805). If the continuity is satisfactory, continue with this procedure.

(8) Connect the de−icer wire harnesses to the terminals on the propeller backplate and blade
assembly (Refer to TASK 61−10−06−400−805).
(9) Do a check of the condition of each bus bar assembly on the propeller backplate assembly.
If the condition of a bus bar is unsatisfactory, replace the bus bar (Refer to TASK
61−10−06−000−804 and TASK 61−10−06−400−804). If the condition of the bus bars is

B. Do an electrical continuity check of the propeller blade heater elements as follows:

(1) Make sure that the connections of the slip ring de−icer harnesses at the slip ring and at the
terminal ends on the backplate are serviceable and not loose.
(2) If the slip ring de−icer harness connections are not satisfactory, torque the bolts and nuts to
between 19.0 and 21.0 lbf in (2,15 to 2,37 N m): refer to PS51002−1.
(3) If the slip ring de−icer harness connections are satisfactory, do a resistance check between
the slip rings that follow:
(a) The inner ring to middle ring.
(b) The inner ring to outer ring.
(c) The middle ring to outer ring.
(4) The resistance must be between 10 and 12 ohms. If the resistance is not in this range,
