ABSTRACT

This project present a review on impact of technology and marketing on pharmacy

sales
.The role of pharmacies has changed during the last decades of the 20th century within
both the societal and medical spheres. From a place manufacturing medicine, to
procurement and distribution of medicine, pharmacies became modern medical
facilities that participate in the medical system and retail pharmaceutical market. The
duality of the role of pharmacy requires adjustments to the demands of healthcare
policies and contemporary market principles. The implementation of contemporary
business practices, such as marketing, was mostly absent until recently. This research
focuses on the use of internet for pharmaceutical marketing and the possible
application of online pharmacies in Pakistan.

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Consumption increase is heralded as the answer to crucial worldwide troubles such as
poverty, unemployment and inequality. However, it is also dreaded as a reason of
environmental degradation because of dominant and growing portion of weather gases
and other crucial emissions that is indeed without delay associated with non-green and
unsustainable intake (John Thøgersen, de Barcellos, Perin, & Zhou, 2015). Since the
second one 1/2 of the beyond century the method of agricultural modernization in
advanced and in many developing countries is patently inconsistent with the ideas of
sustainability.

The meals technology and the traditional food have misplaced its characteristic of fee
creation because of numerous meals dangers and food protection issues. There is
collectively developing subject among academicians, practitioner, policy makers,
farmers and clients that conventional agriculture is contributing to several ecological
and social problems (Underwood, McCullum-Gomez, Harmon, & Roberts, 2011).
Nevertheless, the inexperienced revolution introduced increase in yield for a while; but,
it has also expanded dependency of farmers on nonrenewable outside inputs like
fertilizers and pesticides that has been causing loss of indigenous know-how and
practices (Muhammad, Anjum, Kasana, & Randhawa, 2013), stagnant manufacturing
with growing fee (Yasin, Ashfaq, Adil, & Bakhsh, 2014), towards marginal profits.

Further, there may be additionally developing trend of food adulteration and

contamination strategies particularly in developing countries like Pakistan. The extent
of media reporting, the judiciary’s intervention and rejection of exports orders are
ample evidences of meals protection troubles in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Akhtar, Sarker,
& Hossain (2012) has additionally proposed that an in depth food safety infrastructure
main to a safer supply of food want to be devised, designed, and applied. Indeed, meals
safety troubles deals with extensive variety of issues inclusive of public fitness,
agriculture techniques, food modernization which require constructive intervention by
means of policy makers (Havelaar et al., 2007)

Whereas, on the other hand, the organic agriculture furnished an opportunity to combat
the post results of green revolution by using boosting the green techniques, selling

CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
agro-variety and the usage of indigenous information; in addition many farmer's
corporations, NGOs and different institutions commenced working with farmers to
transform their farming systems from conventional to natural (Yasin et al., 2014). The
remaining two decades survey have additionally found out that health of farmers and
their families, clients, animals and environmental issues are essential motivational
factors in conversion to natural farming. The memories abound amongst non- natural
growers of rashes, itches, flakey pores and skin, cancer and respiration ailments, even
death – all of which they attribute to agricultural chemical compounds (Freyer &
Bingen, 2015). Moreover, in reaction to several food scandals which is creating
extreme hazard to human fitness and societies; the national and international social
business enterprise at the side of government institutions2 are gambling active position
in cognizance sports of natural food (Ling, 2013).

Organic farming motion commenced in many nations in reaction to the risks to the
livelihoods of the farming network and their environment (Rundgren, 2006).
Now-a-days, 85% of the arena produce is contributed by using smallholders that
deliver food to the needy populace. A majority of the smallholders face poverty and
can't manage to pay for costly inputs (International Federation of Organic
Agriculture Movements [IFOAM], 2015). Due to boom of contaminants in food
objects contributed by using chemical insecticides and fertilizers; fitness risks are
growing at a excessive level. These chemical substances also have awful impact on
natural world in addition to other useful organisms like earth worms which help in
improving the soil fitness (Maass Wolfenson, 2013).

Organic farming is the answer to recover the soil made of salt intake by means of
local herbal natural rely as a floor cover with compost and natural fertilizer
(Yousafzai et al., 2016). The source of the manufacturing of compost and natural
fertilizer which contributes a whole lot to the financial system of Pakistan is livestock.
It performs a essential function to assist family profits and jobs for the landless,
smallholders and ladies in rural communities. It has been envisioned that 30-35
million rural populations of Pakistan is getting 30-forty% of their income via
livestock without delay or indirectly (Government of Pakistan [GOP], 2007a).

Organic food fulfills the human nutritional nutrients, minerals, enzymes and
2
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
micronutrients. Pakistan has to produce greater food grains to fulfill the dietary
wishes of the increasing populace which is presently over 191.71 million
(Pakistan Economic Survey, 2014-15). Overall dietary wishes of the populace have
reached to twenty million tons wheat (Alam, 2003). It has been reported that
dangerous insecticides spray applied through the farming community infected almost
10-15 percentage of saved meals in the course of garage (Ali et al., 2011). Moreover,
the researchers face the demanding situations of publish-harvest losses.

During sixties, Green Revolution changed into brought in growing countries thru using
chemical inputs and high yielding crop seeds. This increased meals production but
induced fitness and environmental dangers (Ahmed et al., 2002).The similar situation
was witnessed in the entire international wherein gains were finished putting lifestyles
into risks, so an urgent reaction turned into needed to combat the alarming situation
(Food and Agriculture Organization [FAO], 2012).

1.2 Objectives of study

 Major aspects of organic farming

 Develop awareness and understanding
 Integration of dimensions in organic food system
 Significance of organic food system
 Organic agriculture policies
 Benefits of organic farming

1.3 Research questions

 How you can do organic farming effectively?
 What is your purpose to do organic farming?
 What are the benefits of organic food?
 How will you supply products to all over Pakistan?

1.4 Problem Statement

There are a lot diseases are spreading due to uses of unhealthy foods and
environment. The inorganic foods have not enough amount of energy which
3
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
person has to intake regularly. And the environment is full of pollutants that effect
human’s lifestyle.

1.5 Research Gap

The case of Pakistan is distinctly different considering unjustly no organic meals

regulations could be shaped and applied, subsequently, nearby market remains running
as non-regulated markets. In case of natural meals exports, the companies have opted
international certification that is notably better in cost however accepted in European
and American markets. Though, the growth in certified land of natural farming is
doubled in last few years, yet, it is a ways much less in comparison with India and
different local nations present growth of licensed farming and emergence of local
natural meals markets depicts the capability and viability of organic farming in
Pakistan that's certainly completed with none government intervention due to lack of
attention and false impression. Therefore, the proposed model can be powerful device
for coverage makers, corporate area and other stakeholders for their expertise and
consciousness about natural food machine particularly in longer hobby of
surroundings, economic system and society.

1.2 Background of study

The British researcher Albert Howard (1905-1931) commenced with studies at the
philosophy and conceptualization of organic food manufacturing in agricultural studies
centers of India. According to (Wynen, Merrigan, & Sciallaba, 1998), FAO ―Organic
farming is an environmental friendly atmosphere management wherein, use of all styles
of synthetic inputs are eliminated. Hence, organic meals are least processed to hold the
natural vitamins and integrity of food with out synthetic elements and irradiations for
preservations reason‖. Similarly, the global federation of natural agriculture movements
(IFOAM) defines it as ―organic agriculture is a production machine that sustains the
health of soils, ecosystems and those.
It relies on ecological procedures, biodiversity and cycles tailored to nearby situations,
instead of using inputs with unfavourable results. Organic Agriculture combines
lifestyle, innovation and technological know-how to gain the shared surroundings and
promote fair relationships and an amazing first-rate of existence for all worried‖.

4
CHAPTER 1 INTRODUCTION
Further IFOAM additionally identifies 4 concepts of organic farming which include
precept of health, ecology, equity and care. Likewise, there are various other
comparable definitions by way of many meals authorities i.E USDA, WHO and many
others. In easy words, organic meals is emerging as mixture of conventional and
progressive meals production, processing and upkeep methods with current advertising
and marketing practices (John Thøgersen, 2009).
According to FAO, the natural agriculture is the quickest developing meals region
inside the international in both land use and market size (Caro & Durán, n.D.) and at
the identical time it became crucial marketplace section of agri food system (Crandall
et al., 2010). The world of organic agriculture, information and rising traits by
(Lernoud & Willer, 2017) reviews 179 nations with presence of organic practices in
2015 whilst 87 international locations have right natural regulations. India is
dominating in the number of producers for organic agriculture which account for 585,2
hundred producers and there are 2.Four million licensed manufacturers within the
world. The total organic marketplace is reached to 81.6 billion US greenbacks wherein
US is main with 39.7 billion US greenback accompanied by using Germany and France
which account 9.5 and six.1 billion US dollar.
Denmark has most marketplace proportion of organic meals merchandise which is
around eight percent of food income. International markets are looking ahead to
wholesome growth of organic food and beverages in coming years. The growing call
for of EU and US together with growing customer focus and growth in in keeping with
capita income of Asian countries indicates essential capacity of organic food for Asia
(H Willer, Lernoud, & Kilcher, 2014). Since, merchandising of organic meals machine
has more importance for Asian nations as because of its missing; the countries may
face extra excessive issues and disaster which can also consist of food lack of
confidence, dangerous meals materials, health troubles and simultaneously
unsustainable rural and agriculture development and surroundings degradation (Musa,
Program, & Gurung, n.D.).

CHAPTER 2 LITERATURE REVIEW

The modern agriculture device is an critical issue of Pakistan’s economic system and it
bills 21% share to gross home product. It acts as a source of employment as human
exertions for extra than forty five% human beings of Pakistan, even as 60% of rural
populace is at once involved in this sector for its livelihoods (GOP, 2007b). Pakistan
has a awesome capability for natural farming as the maximum of the farming
network is involved in adapting natural farming technologies for their sustainable
livelihoods and biodiversity in addition to decreasing their farm costs (Husnain &
Khan, 2015). There is a want of focus a number of the humans of Pakistan about
the blessings of natural farming. Eco-farming is being practiced in Pakistan at
approximately six million hectares of the cultivable land is arid and rainfed areas (Baig
et al., 2013). The soils in Baluchistan, Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), Gilgit-
Baltistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) and northern areas of Punjab are available
for natural farming where organic fertilizers and herbal pest manage with
favorable climatic conditions are most effective gear for the farming community
(Rasul & Hussain, 2015). During 2008, National Institute of Organic Agriculture
(NIOA) become established at National Agricultural Research Centre, Islamabad.
This institute is involved in working on organic farming strategies and
disseminating new knowledge to the smallholders across the us of a (Musa et al.,
2015). Unfortunately, there may be lack of inspection and certification system of
natural products due to which their export is restricting to a outstanding quantity.
The agriculture income is lowering due to terrible fee policies of the government
related to markets of agriculture merchandise. Therefore, it is essential to
transfer the cutting-edge technology of natural agriculture to the farming groups and
to permit the rural women to participate in natural production. Easy loans and normal
trainings need to be arranged for those women to improve the natural production.
The sustainable agriculture develops the farmer capacity particularly stallholder and
farm-domestic girls to attain the aim in their own assets like water, soil, meadows and
forests. It also creates the farmers capability to apply their personal nearby herbal
sources for the boom in their dwelling standards which in the end contribute in
monetary growth of the u . S . (FAO, 2014). The smallholder eco-friendly agriculture
is the key to open the window in the direction of sustainable future through saving

9
CHAPTER 3 METHODOLOGY
the millions of souls from hunger and malnutrition (Serageldin & Steeds, 1997). There
is an exchange option inside the shape of domestic gardening trainings, bio-manage of
harmful insects/pests, Farmer Field Schools (FFS), nursery elevating, seed bank,
techniques of rain harvesting, conservation of land and water, and provision of poultry
and farm animals to the needy peasants. The Pakistani farm-home ladies play a
extremely good function in agricultural improvement and farm animals control. The
girls farmers produce 80% of meals and feature a close relationship with land and
meals manufacturing of Pakistan (FAO, 2011d).

Although the space among extension and studies could be very broad but it may be
filled with mass schooling. In Pakistani rural society, the small medium farmers
include ninety three% of the entire farming community, of which eighty one%
domesticate less than 12.Five acres of land (World Bank, 2007). This majority of
smallholders usually face issues in seeking the field answers from agricultural
extension employees. Research and extension are the two basic elements of
agricultural development. At gift, the linkage between those components may be
very susceptible. This gap can be filled with adequate funds, right ability
building trainings, coordination among studies, extension and the farming
community. Research groups ought to establish outreach additives to layout and
examine appropriate extension methodologies by the usage of statistics and
communication generation (Rwelamira, 2015). Organic farming can play a essential
role in the betterment of rural and urban groups. Two thematic opinions regarding
natural agriculture and poverty discount had been performed via International
Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) in the course of 2001-2004 in Latin
America, Caribbean and Asia (China and India). The reviews examined the practices of
organic techniques related to poverty reduction, meals protection and exchange. The
effects had been very promising for adapting nature pleasant agriculture techniques
together with better advertising and marketing (International Fund for Agricultural
Development [IFAD], 2013). As far as using chemical fertilizers is concerned; its use
can be minimized through the education of natural fertilizers at the farm that's quite
easy.

CHAPTER 5 CONCLUSION & RECOMMENDATION
It is need of the time to understand the importance of natural farming by means of
organising a clean image about ability of organic farming. Sloughing through plethora
of literature shows that organic farming can play vital position in growing
international locations like Pakistan as to facilitate small farmers and non-cultivated
lands in fee powerful and sustainable way and to increase national organic food
market for safe and nutrient meals to protect health of typically public and labor
forces (iii) to enhance international change of natural food merchandise in the
direction of employment generation and financial increase. Moreover, the notice and
availability of organic food via government intervention can even reduce meals
inflation as opposition among meals diverse segments and merchandise can dispose
of monopoly and cartelization of massive MNCs by means of growing additional
provide. It outlines capability inferences for commercial enterprise and advertising
scholars as aggressive marketing by using conventional food MNCs and susceptible
advertising by using organic players is extra future challenge to keep sustainability.
However, it's far critical to apprehend that our scholarly community particularly in
growing nations like Pakistan desires to empirically investigate numerous mentioned
dimensions with some of carried out questions13. Nevertheless, globally, we are at a
