Implementation lesson after the LTT in Greece

Objectives The main objectives:
To draw students’ attention to the variety on the Planet Earth, to make them
curious and eager to learn, and find out more about the world.
To use more audio and video materials to present the studied material in a
more vivid way.

Students will:
- Enrich their general culture about Australia;
- Learn some fact about the continent;
- Learn and consolidate the vocabulary from the topic;
- Improve their listening, pronunciation and reading skills;

Students will utilize:

- electronic devices – video materials, e-platform Quizlet ;

Students will practice:

- listening skills;
- reading skills;
- speaking skill;

Students will identify:

- How to find the main information in a text;

- How to find the main facts from a video material;

- How to make a fact-file about a country;

Procedure
Step 1: In the previous lesson the students watch the video from their e- Students’ Book,
the new words from the lesson were introduced to them.

The lesson starts with the interesting video about Australia from Nat Geo Kids.
Step 2: The students pay attention to the good pronunciation in the material, the main
facts about animal life, famous landmarks, farming, etc.

The students take turns to read the text from the students’ book. Then they
Step 3: answer the questions after the text in order to get more detailed information
about Australia.

A quizlet is used as a picture-dictionary and to practise the correct pronunciation


of the new words. Later the games from the quizlet will be used for learning the
Step 4: new words and playing them at home.

Step 5: The students are divided into two teams to play the game. Behind each card
there is a question from the text about Australia and then they get points for
each correct answer. This encourages the students to be more focussed when
they read the text. It is a wonderful way of studying while playing.

For Homework the students have to make a Fact-file about Australia (Where is it
Step 6: situated? capital, the biggest city, population, animal life, famous landmarks,
aborigines and etc., some of them are going to present it in front of the class
during the next lesson.
Evaluation Discussion over the most difficult questions and checking the answers with the
text.
The students always share their joy when some kind of games are included,
especially e-games.
