CURRICULUM MAP IN DISASTER READINESS AND RISK

REDUCTION
FOR GRADE 11

Prepared by:
JOHANNAH MAE AYING
I. SUBJECT AREA MISSION STATEMENT:

Science and Technology plays a major role in man’s quest for quality of life. The rapid development of technology such as the unleaded fuel to renewable energy, organ transplants to test tube babies,
television sets to computer and mobile phones has pervaded nearly every aspect of human existence and change the way of life. Aware of the present condition of the Philippine society, as well as in the
local community, the Science Area of St. Scholastica’s Academy-Tabunok with the aim to develop students’ necessary scientific and life-long skills to keep them abreast with the modern times and become
innovators of change. Through the different student-centered activities aligned with the Benedictine values, the Science teachers expect to develop 21 st century learners to be scientifically literate, critical
and logical thinkers who are concerned on the preservation, protection and the renewal of endangered natural resources as Benedictine stewards to take action in caring for our common home, the Earth.

II. GENERAL OBJECTIVES

Grade XI (DRRR) aims the learners to:

1.understand and define terminologies commonly used in DRRR;
2.examine and evaluate the relationship between community’s capacity level and degree of disaster impact;
3.describe the different effects of disaster;
4.practice of reducing disaster risks through systematic efforts to analyse and reduce the casual factors of disasters; and
5. understand and practice wise management of land and the environment, and improving preparedness and early warning for adverse events are all examples of disaster risk
reduction.

III. COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course focuses on the application of scientific knowledge and the solution of practical problems in a physical environment. It is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical science and daily
living.

IV. COURSE REQUIREMENTS
