Dear Aunt Sarah,


We´ve having a fantastic time here in London! We´ve already visited Buckingham Palace and we´ve fed
the pidgeons in Trafalgar Square. We haven´t seen the Tower of London or the Tower Bridge yet. London is
full of museums and we´ve already visited the Science Museum and the Victoria and Albert Museum. We
haven´t been to Madame Tussaud´s Wax Museum yet. We´re going to go tomorrow, I hope. We haven´t
bought many souvenirs yet but don´t worry, I´ll buy you something nice!

The present perfect connects the past to the present. We use it to talk about actions or states that began
in the past and continue into the present.

Sometimes we use “for” to talk about a period of time.

El presente perfecto conecta el pasado con el presente. Se usa para hablar sobre acciones o estados
que comenzaron en el pasado y continúa en el presente. Algunas veces se usa “por” para hablar de un
periodo de tiempo.

He has worked here for ten years.

I have studied English for two years.

The past participle of Regular Verbs, you added –ed at the end of the verbs.

For example: Work – worked – worked.

Finish – finished – finished


The past participle of Irregular Verbs, you have to learn by heart.

For example: go – went – gone

Eat- ate- eaten

Tell – told – told.

We use “still” to talk about an action or a situation that has been going on longer than expected.

Se usa la palabra “aun” para una acción o situación que se ha prolongado más de lo esperado.

It´s still raining He still hasn´t finished.

We use “yet” to say that an event has not happened up to now. We use it in questions and negative
sentences.

Se usa la palabra “todavía” para decir que un evento no se ha producido hasta ese momento. Se usa en
preguntas y oraciones negativas.

Have they paid you yet? She hasn´t arrived yet.

We use “already” in affirmative sentences to emphasize that an action has happened before the moment of
speaking.

Se usa la palabra “ya” en oraciones afirmativas para enfatizar que una acción ha sucedido antes del
momento en que se habla.

I have already cleaned my room. We´ve already seen that movie.

We use “just” to talk about an action that has happened a very short time ago.

Se usa “acaba” para hablar acerca de una acción que ha pasado hace un corto tiempo

He has just arrived. You have just missed him. He left two minutes ago.
