Pega - Discussion Questions

For each question provide a definition, navigation instructions & screen images, scenario/use case.

BELOW IS THE EXAMPLE FORMAT:

1. Explain the Pega Platform

Definition: The Pega platform is a visually driven application development environment with
multiple portals (i.e. Pega Express, Designer Studio, Case Manager, Case User), enabling you to
deliver applications faster than traditional approaches. People in business (e.g. Business
Architect) and IT (System Architect) roles work together/collaborate, using DCO (Direct Capture
of Objectives) to develop visual models to capture business requirements and the final Pega
solutions over several iterations. The Pega Platform:

● transforms the way organizations do business

● it is a model-driven code generating development tool
● used to quickly and easily model complex business processes

Navigation Instructions and Screen Image(s):

Pega Academy -> Exercise System Link -> Log in with an Operator ID and password -> Displays
Pega Express or Designer Studio (to toggle between the portals click the bottom left corner)

From Designer Studio -> Launch (to see the Case Manager and Case Worker Portals)

Scenario / Use Case(s):

I would use the Pega platform if I worked for a global company and needed the capability to
build enterprise, automated solutions utilizing a visual, model-driven development approach.
DCO is used in the planning phase of the project to identify business objectives, requirements
and specifications which are translated into Pega artifacts (e.g. application, case type, stages,
processes, steps, rule types). The Pega Express and Designer Studio portals are used to design
and develop the Pega solutions. The Case Manager and Case Worker portals are used by
business unit personal to execute the Pega solution
