1. What does filibustero mean?

- The meaning of filibustero is a man who worked for the emancipation of those who were
overseas provinces of Spain.

2. Why did Rizal dedicate El Filibusterismo to Gomburza?

- Upang maiparating na ang system noon sa pilipinas ay hindi makatarungan, at ang naging
inspirasyon ay ang tatlong prayle na binitay dahil sa maling paratang.

3. What were the struggles that Rizal went through to publish El Fili?
- Kulang siya sa pera naisanla niya yung mga alahas niya pero hindi pa din sapat kaya
nangutang siya ng pera sa mga kaibigan niya pero hindi siya nakahiram.

4. Choose a character in the novel. What does he/she symbolize in relation to Philippine
society today?
- Crisostomo Ibarra He has a liberal mind. Outspoken and idealistic Patient and serious man
He becomes very violent and impulsive when he provoked. Ibarra as Rizal's reflection of
himself. He symbolizes the idealism of the privileged youth.

5. After reading Rizal's two novels, how will you appraise Rizal as a novelist?
- He became the voice of many Filipino. Matapang niyang pinagtanggol ang pilipinas laban
sa mga espanyol sa pamamagitan ng nobela at inalay ang buhay para sa bansa.

6. In terms of the theme tackled in the novels, compare and contrast Noli Me Tangere and
El Filibusterismo.
- Ang Noli Me Tangere ay tungkol sa pag ibig sa ating bayan habang ang El Filibusterismo
naman ay isang nobelang pampulitika na papahayag ng pag hihiganti o galit. Parehas
naman pinag usapan ditto kung paano inabuso ng mga espanyol ang mga Filipino.

7. Choose three most important characters in the novel and explain why you consider them
as such.
- Crisostomo Ibarra, Elias, Basilio, dahil sila ay pare-parehas na matatag, matalino at mahal
nila ang kanilang mga pamilya.
8. What are the earliest recorded biographies in the Philippines?
- Ang Laguna Copperplate Inscription ay ang earliest known document ng pilipinas na
natagpuan sa construction site noong 1989 malapit sa Lumbang River sa kahabaan ng
Laguna de Bay.
9. What is the importance of writing/studying a biography?
- Ang pagbabasa ng biography ng ibang tao ay makakainspired sayo pag nabasa mo yung
mga struggles na pinag daanan nila at kung paano nila ito nalampasan.

10. How is biography related to national history?

- Both history and biography involves elements of the past and history will also aid in the
understanding of biographies by providing context.
