1. A. Continuous improvement: by continuous improvement they can improving their quality
also satisfying customers expectations, identifying problems and many more. Eventho they
are successful but it mentioned if their challenge are maintaining their quality. So if they want
to improve more it’s a good idea if they do continuous improvement, also it can help expand
their market and many more

B. Six Sigma : to achieve continuous improvement they have to use Six Sigma method such
as DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Contol) and FMEA (Failure Mode Effect,
Analysis) to achieve a failure rate of 3.4 parts per million or 99.9997% perfect. Because lot
of this manufacturer using 70% machinery it can help them to minimize the failure and defect
so their quality will also improve.

C. Employee empowerment: Because they have so many branch around Europe, Asia and
US they have so much employee. And they have to this concept because when employee see
a problem they can handle it. So employee need to receive training on group planning,
problem solving, and quality control. This is proven cost effective way to increase
productivity as well as quality

D.Benchmarking: to make it short benchmarking is comparing between one to another. It


can be quality, process, time consumed, service, defects and many more. By having lot of
branch they can do Internal Benchmarking so they can manage their quality anywhere of their
branches around the world. It also

E.JIT (Just in Time) : they ilised to manage the entire business process throughout
the value chain. JIT is one of continuous improvement so when someone order they can use
MRP and make their product. It can cuts cost of quality and improve quality.

F.Tool of TQM: There are some tool to help them identifying their problem such as
maintaining their quality, maybe they can cross check and find out and improve it. They can
use like histogram,flowchart, Statistical Process Control Chart and etc.

2. A. Failure can happened any time and any causes it can be from machinery, customer,
employee, suppliers and many more but we should see failure as opportunity so we can detect
our failure and improve it. To detect failure it’s clear if our product quality will decrease or
time taken to create that product or cost increasing from usual it must be. So to detect failure
we can do some mechanism such as:
In Process Check: we can use computer to detect the failure while doing the process or we
can
Machine diagnostic checks: Testing the machine regurlary to see whether it perform their
best or not so we can know if they not perfoming well it can cause defect
Point-of-departure interviews: In the end of service staff can ask wheter the service is
satisfying or not. So when the customer get our product from distibrutor they can ask wheter
is it okay or not. It can applied on salon, restaurant or service industry
Phone surveys: By asking the customer by phone survey we can know what are the problem
from customer point of view and we can fix it.
Focus groups : it can discover their specified problem by bringing specified aspect of
product. For example if our quality is not that good the group of customer will bring up the
topic about the quality and we can discuss it and know what are the defect and fix it
Complaint or feedback cards and questionnaires.: we can share feedback cards and
qustionnaires to our customer to know whether there are defect on our product.
We can also use failure mode and effect analysis (FMEA) to identify the product or service
features that are critical to various types of failure.

To analyze failure we can do three things :


failure rates – how often a failure occurs by using calculation number of failure divided with
total number of product tested times 100. Or number of failure divided with operating time
reliability – the chances of a failure occurring; Reliability is defined as the probability that
a component (or an entire system) will perform its function for a specified period of time,
when operating in its design environment. So we have to know how much our people and
machinery can handle. For example15 this

day and if we force it for 12 hours a day it will not perfom the best and can lead to failure
availability – the amount of available useful operating time, this is almost same with reability
we have to know how long our machine can operate so we can do some maintainance, upgrade
and many more to the machine.

How Improve system / process reliability: In practical terms, operations managers have three
sets of activities which relate to failure. The first is concerned with understanding what
failures are occurring in the operation and why they are occurring. How to improve the system
they can use some of the concept of TQM like continuous improvement, TQM tools,
benchmarking, JIT and etc. They also need to do MRP I, MRP II and ERP to know wheter
the have enough resource to do JIT and managing all of the system using ERP. Because lot
of them using machinery on their system

3. I will suggest Lean operations, Lean Operation is a means of running an organization by


focusing on providing greater customer satisfaction while using as few resources as possible.
The objective of lean operations is twofold: Creating value for customers and eliminating
waste. Companies that use lean operations are highly concerned with efficiency. So if we do
that we have to applied JIT concept as well because they’re related. JIT focused on efficiency
, cost reduction, and Lean Operation is focused on efficiency and customer satisfaction and
minimal waste. Decreasing waste mean we have small defect on our production. And it means
we can reduce the guarantee cost and rework cost.

gear for medical, workers around the world. It’s a B2B company serving hundreds of hospital
and clinic clients. At first we have to do business impact analysis which is from the template we
can share questionare or do workshop to know whether our product is good enough or not, we
can know what are our problem to maintaining the quality, such us the defect, our customer
disatisfcation and many more. After that we can reviewing our and summarize the problem

Then after identify the problem or the defect we have to know how to minimalize it or elimate it
so we also know our ability to minimalize or eliminate the defect. If we can analyse it we ready
to have recovery strategy. And we have to make sure if our employee know and understand the
problem, we can set priority to it. For example there are bigger defect on product A instead of
product B and product A is more urgent to fix, we can prioritize product A while also fix the
product B. if we not prioritizing something the fixing process will not maximum.
After that we can develop the strategy plan how to improve our quality or decrease the defect
then we can Imply the strategy. Eventho it seems hard to imply all the changes we can do it one
by one or even once. But keep manage it to successful. While we implied the strategy plan we
can also do testing and evaluation the change.
The company who improve will be successful instead company who don’t they will die.
Eventho they will struggle with the process but it will make the successful. The plan is
