 From the above table we observe that today’s lifestyle has become more
about owning more than we need.
 Analysing the above table, we understand that we utilise more products
than we need. Having 2 televisions, and two extra bikes shows that today’s
lifestyle has become more about status rather than simple subsistence.
 Extra clothes, extra shoes and a little extra of everything of every individual
compound into a bigger quantity. This further has impact on every
individual’s ecological footprint.
 Utilisation of two televisions and AC leads to extra consumption of
electricity. This aids in global warming as majority of electricity is produced
using fossil fuels. The AC also releases chlorofluorocarbons which is a
greenhouse gas. This also aids in global warming. This is all harmful to our
environment.
 Usage of extra bikes and unnecessary utilisation of car leads to emission of
harmful pollutants in the atmosphere. To avoid this, we can use private
vehicles only when extremely necessary. Public transport could be used to
avoid unnecessary pollution and emission of harmful gases.
 Spending money on decorative stuff and expensive branded stuff leads to
accumulation of products with no real use in the house. This further leads
to wastage of money and also to extra production of plastics which is
harmful to the environment.
 The usage of various chemicals in toothpastes, shampoos and conditioners
is another factor that has an impact on the environment. The chemicals mix
with the sewage water which is eventually drained out in a freshwater
source, thus polluting it. The usage of such chemicals needs to be reduced
and more eco-friendly Ayurvedic products should be used.
 Thus, we can all reduce our harmful ecological footprint by using only
necessary products in our life and thus helping our environment stay
cleaner and better for the upcoming generation.
