Note: For the queries that are unaddressed, we shall be sending an update as
soon as we receive any information on the same. The deadline for filling the
application is 4th of April. There is enough time, please do not make any mistakes
by filling the form in a hurry.

General Instructions

Dear candidates,

1) The emails coming from @iift.edu are official ones.


2) The PI+Extempore will start from 15th April
3) The Written Assessment test will happen before that. The written test is expected to
happen on a date between 10-14.
Note: Both 2 & 3 are tentative. As mentioned in the mail, please wait for further
information on exact dates.

4) For PI, you are expected to have physical copies of the following documents (original
or photocopy)
a) Relevant work experience certificate
b) Category certificates
c) Educational certificates/mark sheets
d) Govt ID proofs. (original needed necessarily)

5) In the CV form, you might be mentioning extracurriculars and achievements.


Certificates of the same are not expected in the interview but you are expected to not
put anything which cannot be verified at a later stage.

6) If anyone has not received the mail for the CV form, please drop a mail at :
admission@iift.edu stating your concern and basic details like application Number and
registered mail id.
As per updates from the AO, the mails will be replied to as soon as possible.

Ideally, we wouId request you to wait for the mail. In the meanwhile, you may prepare
and keep the answers for the CV form ready so that time is not wasted.

Queries - Set 5 & 6


Regarding Work Experience

1) If a candidate has not added workex in the Admission Form, can they add it in
the CV form?
A: Yes. The one added in the CV form will be considered for final selection.

2) In experience certificate what will be considered?


A: a) An experience certificate from the company OR
b) Your last three pay slips + joining letter
c) Your last three pay slips

3) What should be written in the 'Nature of Responsibilities' section under Work


Experience?
A: You need to write a brief description of what were your primary responsibilities during
the time you were working in a given role.

4) I mentioned work ex in the initial application form. Will it be okay if I don't


mention it in the CV form for final evaluation as I might not be able to prove it?
A: Yes, but there will be no marks awarded for work ex.

5) For workex, if you are self-employed or if the business isn't registered. Can we
still mention it?
A: The standard practice is that the company has to be registered.
If you are self employed and cannot produce a valid certificate, then that can be
mentioned separately in the CV form and not under Work ex.

1) For those doing family business, what all documents are required?
2) Work ex till which date?

Regarding Educational Details

1) Haven't received my degree or the consolidated mark sheet as our University is


yet to open. I have the digital copy of the marksheets for each semester though.
Physical copies till the third year. Will that be sufficient?
A: Yes. The rest are not required at this stage.

2) What should we write in the 'Degree' Column while filling our 10th and 12th
education details?
A: Use N/A or write Secondary/Senior Secondary
3) What should we write in the 'Rank/Division' space under educational
qualification?
A: Division I / II whichever is applicable

Note: 60% and above is considered Division I.

4.) In major subjects, do we need to write the individual subjects we took in


classes 10 and 12 or is it only for writing our specialization of UG Degree?
A: You need to write individual subjects you had in class 10th and 12th. For UG,
mention your specialization

Others

1) Issues with uploading proof for the Category certificate


A: Do try again and see if it is getting uploaded.

2) If I have had a PoR for which no official certificates were given, can I provide
proof for that through signed applications or emails from concerned authorities?
A: Yes, that would work. Please ensure that the email is from the official id of the
organisation and not from the personal ID of the concerned authority.

3)Can internship experiences be written as extracurriculars?


A: No, internships would not be covered in this section.

4) Do we have to upload certificates or proofs for extracurriculars?


A: It is expected that you have all proofs of all extracurriculars that you mention in the
CV. However, these are not required during PI and shall be checked later when you
arrive at campus.

5) What if I have no social media accounts except linkedin.com? Is that a


negative? Should I just create accounts to add?
A: Use personal discretion. It’s not mandatory.

[Personal Note: Since all the panelists will have your CV form with them, this might be
asked although they most likely will not go through the links. In the PI, if you say that
you are a marketing enthusiast, then not having any other SM handle might look off.]
6) Why are we being asked to list our social media handles? How is it relevant for
PI/MBA?
A: It is just additional information that you can mention if you want to. It could act as a
talking point during your interview depending on the panelist.

7) For the CV Form questions on Part B and Part C , is 100 a strict word
limit,else,what is the tolerance level- +10/15 words, is that okay?
A: Yes, +- 10/15 is acceptable but try to keep the answers crisp and within the word limit
as panelists are very less likely to sit and read through 100+ word answers entirely.

8) "Any other info that u have not mentioned before and that you consider may be
relevant" what exactly are they referring to here? Are they talking about technical
courses or something in general as a person?
A: You can add any information that you feel is relevant and would be helpful to you and
can act as a talking point during your interview. It could be an achievement or any skills.
It is an open ended question.

9)For the question concerning an innovative thing we have worked on, can we
include details about a business plan I worked on in college for the
entrepreneurship course?
It was just a plan. No business was done in actual
A: Yes you can, it could be any innovative project/idea/plan, event. You should be able
to justify your answers if asked during interviews.

10). Can you please elaborate what all we can write under "Describe in short what
are your favorite areas of discussion on social networking website" under the
award/achievement/extracurricular tab?
A: You can choose to mention any pages, topics, content that you follow on social
media/ if you are on any discussion platforms like quora you can mention that as well. It
is a question to gauge your interest areas.

11). Is working as an intern content writer during college an appropriate answer


for the "creative piece of work " question in Part B?
A: The answer should be focused on the creative piece of work, the pieces you wrote in
this case.

12) Can the additional info part be used to specify specialisation aspirations and
or elective preferences?
A: The section is intended to let the interviewer know of any other aspect of you that you
want to be a talking point. Use personal discretion.

13) How long do we have to speak in the extempore?


A: Await further information on this via mail. If not specified, it could depend upon the
panelist as well.

14) I have a category certificate which was issued on 20/06/2018, Will that be
valid, or do I need a new certificate as it might take some time in getting the new
certificate. Please Suggest.
A: During the interview, you can go ahead and present the certificate that was uploaded
by you while filling the application form. However, while joining the college, recent
certificates would be required.
