    This document describes a variation of Sudoku called Compound Sudoku. In Compound Sudoku, each row, column and 3x3 box must contain one compound each of chloride, bromide, iodide, oxide, sulphide, hydroxide, nitrate, carbonate and sulphate. Additionally, each 3x3 box is restricted to contain only compounds of the same metal. The puzzle requires correctly placing the chemical formulae of compounds in the grid according to these rules.

    COMPOUND SUDOKU

    Usual Sudoku rules apply ...

    Every row, column and 3X3 box contains a chloride, bromide, iodide, oxide, sulphide,
    hydroxide, nitrate, carbonate and sulphate.

    Each 3X3 box is based on compounds of the same metal. E.g. the top-left box contains
    only sodium compounds; the top-centre box contains only calcium compounds.

    ... and you’ve got to get the formulae right as well!!
