1. Find the percent of change in the cost of a loaf of bread from 1970, at $0.25, to 2013, at $2.00. Round
to the nearest whole percent if necessary. 

2. Josie just got an easement on her property, making the area of her yard go from 1,200 square feet to
1,500 square feet. What is the percent change in the area of her yard?
3. A sweater Sarah really wants just went on sale, dropping from $50 to $28. What is the percent change
in the price of the sweater?

4. Alexia estimates that 25 people will come to his party, but 35 actually showed up. What is the percent
error in Alexia's estimate? (Round to the nearest percent if necessary.)
5. Dave's Auto Repair estimated it would cost $460 to repair the wheel bearing on a van. It ended up
costing $584. Find the percent error. Round to the nearest whole percent if necessary.

6. Billy thinks he can make 30 free throws in 60 seconds. He ends up making 23. What is the percent
error to the nearest whole percent?
7. Charlie wants to by a set of weights that cost $105 and the sales takes is 8.72%. What is the
total cost of the weights to the nearest cent?

8. What is the total cost of a car if the original price is $9,444 and the sales tax is 6.3%. Round
your answer to the nearest cent if necessary.
9. A patron at Pioneer Restaurant wants to leave a 15% tip. If the bill is $42, what will be the
total bill with tip to the nearest cent?

10. Find the total cost of a meal at a restaurant with 8% sales tax and a 15% tip if the bill was
$23. Round to the nearest cent if necessary.
11. A pair of pants normally costs $35, but is on sale for 30% off the original price. What is the
sale price of the pair of pants? Round to the nearest cent if necessary.

12. A pair of shoes at Hobby Feet costs $60 and are discounted 15%. At Sport Center the same
pair of shoes costs $80, but they are having a sale with 30% off. Which store is offering the
better price? Explain.
13. A power washer is on sale for $225. If this price represents a 25% discount from the original
price, what is the original price to the nearest cent?

14. Harvey puts $475 into a savings account that pays 4% simple interest. How much interest
will he earn in 6 years? (Round to the nearest cent if necessary.)
15. The Ransdells borrow $8400 for a new car at an interest rate of 7% per year. How much,
total with simple interest, will they pay for the car if they pay it off in three years?
