11. Attendance (Class Participation & Engagement)
Performance Task
Goal:
Your goal is to identify and propose solutions to one
environmental problem in the country by applying physics
principles with the help of your fellow youth counselors for the
protection of the environment (CPE).
Role:
You and your fellow youth counselors are sent by the
government to a physics seminar [actual Physics 1 class
sessions] to gain insights on physics problem solving. You are
required to attend all sessions of the seminar.
Performance Task
(continuation)
Audience:
Your audience will be the community leaders, government
officials, media, and the seminar facilitator who will support
your proposal.
Situation:
At the end of the quarter, you and your fellow counselors have
identified 1 environmental problem in the country, with
corresponding solutions.
Performance Task
(continuation)
Product:
At least 2 sentences stating the problem and at least 2
sentences proposed solution applying physics principles. (The
mathematical analysis is not required yet for the 1st quarter but
will be submitted on the 2nd quarter). These are submitted
online [thru Blackboard LMS] so that the media can view your
environmental problem-solving proposal.
Unexcused Absence = 0
(Without any excuse letter or the excused letter not presented nor
submitted to the teacher before the end of the quarter.)
SCORING GUIDELINES
Attendance/Class Participation/Class Engagement
On the other hand, the teacher has the right to ask for
photocopies or photographs of these materials for
documentation purposes only and all original copies will be
returned to the student for safe keeping.
The student has to keep all original documents for the whole
duration of the quarter so that claims for scores can be
supported by the original documents.
UNEXCUSED ABSENCE
Excused Absence = highest make-up score is half of the Highest Possible Score
(Highest make-up score is just half of the HPS regardless of the category of the
the excused absence.)
The EXAM is open from July 29 (Monday) but expires (closes) on August 5
(Monday 5 pm).
Note:
Allowed number of attempts = 3
Time limit for each attempt = 1 hr & 30 min
Recorded score = score of the last attempt
The EXAM is open from September 30 (Monday) but expires (closes) on October 7
(Monday 5 pm).
Note:
Allowed number of attempts = 3
Time limit for each attempt = 1 hr & 30 min
Recorded score = score of the last attempt
All SUMMATIVE TESTS are recorded and will be part of student’s grades.
Summative test papers (printed, written, or online) are to be checked by the
teacher.
All test papers (formative or summative) are to be returned to the students for
safe keeping. Claims for any adjustment of score entries are to be supported
with the original summative test papers.
NOTE:
ALL 1ST QUARTER SUMMATIVE REQUIREMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED ON OR
BEFORE AUGUST 5 & 2ND QUARTER REQUIREMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED
ON OR BEFORE OCTOBER 7.
CONDUCT IN THE CLASSROOM
In the classroom, students are expected to demonstrate befitting manners.
All cellular phones have to be in silent mode and calls are to be answered outside the
classroom.
A noisy classroom is not conducive to learning and it is an obvious sign of student-learning
disengagement. In the event of unnecessary noise in the classroom, lectures and discussions
have to be paused and be continued only when such noise subsides. The buzzer, if
necessary, can be utilized to suppress unnecessary noise.
Foods and drinks are not allowed in the classroom. Eating snacks should be done outside the
classroom. For personal reasons, students are free (permission from teacher is not required)
to go out from the classroom for a few minutes anytime while class is going on.
Seating-in and non-enrolled auditors are not allowed in the classroom.
