Reflection Questions:

 What are the concerns of our teachers concerning Unpacking of MELC and integrating
MELC in our lessons?
 How can MELC enrich the teachers’ daily lessons?
 How can you help or assist them? Why is it essential that we all understand this process?

Reflection

In my school the common concerns of my teachers are the know how to unpack the
MELCs and integrate it in weekly lessons. The LMD2 LAC sessions is very beneficial for
them to fully understand and how to do the said task. The technical assistance provided by
the Master Teachers and Head Teachers is very helpful in addressing the problems in
connection with the challenges in Unpacking and integrating MELCs.
The MELCs enrich teachers daily lessons because it lessen their time and it focus on the
main competencies that the learners really needs . It also provides meaningful activities
that the teacher need to give to their students for maximum learning and skills
development.
As principal, I need to serve as mentor, facilitator, supporter and guide to my teachers to
make sure that best quality support is provided despite of this pandemic crisis. It is very
essential to understand the process of supporting teachers as instructional leader to make
sure that the quality education is given to the learners even in modular learning like here in
my school.

Reflection Questions:

 As a School Head, what are the characteristics of a good Weekly Home Learning Plan?
How will you know if these weekly plans are executed well? What do you need to do if
there are teachers who cannot execute their plans well?
 What do you need to look for in the teachers’ lesson plans/weekly home learning plans to
know that they are designed well? How can you help the teachers who finds it difficult to
develop well-designed lesson?

Reflection
The subject matter of a good weekly home learning plan should be related to the
everyday life of the child. Lesson-plan should be child-centered. The MELCs,
topics, learning task, and assessments aligned to its objectives.

I monitor my master and head teachers to have their monitoring practice weekly
to every department to make sure that every teacher did their jobs. The teachers
who needs assistance will be guided by their master teachers in proper executions
of their plans.

The lesson or weekly home learning plan should be based in MELC’s, the
alignment and congruency of topic to learning task and assessment is what I look
for when I check their lesson plans. The teacher who needs technical assistance is
noted and LAC session will be conducted to address the problem.

3B – Learning Resources Two (2) accomplished LR Rapid Assessment Tools with
reflections (optional but highly recommended)

Reflection Questions:

 How can you build up our local learning resources for both teachers and students? How
can you ensure that that these learning resources are quality assured and are placed in
protected drives which the teachers can easily access?

Reflection
First step that I have to do as a principal is to encourage teachers to create learning/
instructional materials. Encourage the use of localized and indigenous materials is very
effective in teaching and learning because it is cheap and very accessible.
Second step is to collaborate with teachers in conducting action research that will result
in producing learning material outputs that can be used as module or reference material.

Third is to encourage teachers and students to use learning portals as valid source of
educational materials rather than choosing non-DepEd portals.
DepEd prescribed LR’s are reliable and aligned in the basic requirement needed
for choosing LR’s while non-DepEd LR’s sometimes deviate from the requirements
of standard LR’s. DepEd materials before posting to the DepEd portal were being
examined by the DepEd personnel, this portal have standard assessment tools
that will ensure the highest quality of education.
Lastly , I need to make sure that I provide the strong connectivity for internet so
that my teachers can have free and instant access for the material.

Reflection Questions:

 As the school’s instructional leader, how can I help my teachers have professional
development activities that can help them improve their competencies and also help them
progress in their career as teachers?

Reflection
As Instructional coach, I will guide and assist my teachers if I make myself updated,
improved through professional continuation program like attending training, seminars,
webinars, and other professional programs or studies.

I need also to monitor the teachers developmental plans so I can make plans to help
them improve their key result areas. I need to strengthen LAC session with regards to
their weakness and developmental needs. I will encourage them to pursue their
professional careers.

I have to be consistent to monitor my teachers’ competencies, and do more listening

than talking. I have to check their development plans and to make necessary adjustment
to help them improve and meet their developmental needs.

Extending help in giving technical assistance to develop the competencies of my

teachers are very important to address the issue. The support of the principal and
stakeholders contribute to develop the competencies of our teachers.
I need encourage them to use learning portals to reinforce learning to help
them improve their teaching practice. Through the use of LRMDS and DepEd
portals to improve their access on learning materials.
