Hydro EN is the Grundfos

range of pumps for the
fire active protection in
compliance to the EN
12845 Standard.
Hydro EN

1. In compliance to the standards

The automatic Hydro EN pumping set for automatic
sprinkler system are made in compliance with EN 12845
(EU) - Automatic fire sprinkler systems version 2015.

In addition, Hydro EN complies with,

• UNI 10779 (I) - Hydrant networks- to include timer

(numbers in bracket refer to paragraph of EN 12845 Standard)

Hydro EN

1. In compliance to the standards

The Hydro EN pumping sets have the following main features :
Duty pumps
-the Q-H performance curve is stable - the total head declines
continuously with increasing rate of flow (EN12845, para 10.1),

-both the electric and diesel pumps are equipped with spacer
coupling (back pull out design) so that inner parts of the hydraulics
can be inspected without disconnecting the piping from the pump
body (EN12845, para 10.1).
Hydro EN

1. In compliance to the standards

•the diesel engines are sized so to operate continuously at full load,
so far the power curve used is the continuous power rating (ICN,
ICFN, ICXN or NA) in compliance with the ISO 3046 standard
(EN12845, para 10.9.1),

•the starting is through two batteries with independent battery

charger, starter will make 6 alternating attempts.

•the engine cooling is made via direct air or water with heat
exchanger.
Hydro EN

1. In compliance to the standards

Diesel tank –shall be sized to ensure at least 6 hours of continuous
operation and is equipped with containment basin and vent
connection,

Control panel -Single and independent control panel for each

pump, and all the features and outputs in accordance with the EN
12845 standard are provided for optimal operation and
supervising the pumping set.

Jockey Pump -Shall be sized in such a way that it is NOT capable of

providing enough flow for a single open sprinkler (preventing main
pump from starting). 10.6.2.5

Splitcase pumps
FM Approved horizontal split-case type centrifugal fire
pumps are relatively simple to operate and repair. These
pumps have a two-part casing divided in a horizontal
plane through the shaft centerline.
They are well suited to fire protection service where a
water supply is obtainable under a positive head.
End-Suction Pumps

FM Approved horizontal end-suction

fire pumps must be of the ‘‘back-
pullout’’ design and be driven through
a spacer coupling. That is, it must be
possible to replace the rotating
assembly of an installed pump without
disturbing suction and discharge
piping or the driver. These pumps
feature a horizontal suction connection
opposite the driver end and a vertical,
centerline discharge connection.
