THE VALUE OF HONESTY

The future of our country depends upon the moral values convey to them during their
student life. They will become doctors, politicians, business-person, engineers,
scientists, etc., and hold important positions. Moral lessons should be properly
implemented among students in school. Students have great observation power. They
observe their parents at home and their teacher at school. They always repeat what
they observe and this practice builds their character. The method of teaching moral
values to students is universal. It is the most important duty of the teachers and parents.
If a child observes his teachers/parents to be truthful and honest, he/she will also
absorb some of their virtues.

According to Connors (2016) honesty cuts through deception and knifes its way
through deceit and lies. Honesty leads to a fulfilling, free life. Honesty is not just about
telling the truth. It’s about being real with yourself and others about who you are, what
you want and what you need to live your most authentic life. Honesty promotes
openness, empowers us and enables us to develop consistency in how we present the
facts. Honesty sharpens our perception and allows us to observe everything around us
with clarity.

Telling the truth when tempted to lie can significantly improve a person’s mental and
physical health, according to a “Science of Honesty” study. Telling the truth and backing
it up with actions show respect for what’s right and an esteem for ethical and moral
integrity. Honesty is one of the key components to character and one of the most
admired traits of any successful, responsible person. Success, for me, is not quantified
in terms of money, sales or number of Facebook followers. Particularly not the latter, I
value success in terms of character, self-awareness, honesty, emotional intelligence
and hard work. How we treat ourselves, others and how we use our talents to improve
the lives of others.
According to the living waters website (2019) one survey said that 91 percent of
all Americans lie regularly, but I found myself doubting that survey, because I wasn’t
sure if they were of the 9 percent who tell the truth, or of the 91 percent who lie. But
think about how many opportunities there are in our day to be dishonest. Between all of
our interactions with others, especially on the Internet, sociologists say that we hear and
see 300 lies every day.

As a future teacher, education system should ensure to include some essential

habits and practices to keep a child close to morality. Children must be instructed right
from the beginning and their childhood to practice honesty. Youths of any country are
the future of that country so they should give better opportunities to develop moral
character so that they can lead their country in a better way. For all human problems,
Honesty is the ultimate solution.
