2. Scope
2.1. A specification for “high strength low alloy” steel plate suitable for welded
applications.
4. Chemical Specification
4.1. The heat analysis shall conform to the chemical composition specified in the
applicable national standard. As a minimum, the following elements shall be
reported for each heat of material: Carbon, Manganese, Silicon, Phosphorus,
Sulphur, Chromium, Nickel, Copper, Columbium (Niobium), and Vanadium.

4.2. The Carbon Equivalent shall comply with the following table:
CE = C + Mn + Cr + Mo + V + Cu + Ni

5. Mechanical Properties
5.1. The tensile properties shall comply with the requirements of the applicable
national standard. Test sampling and methods shall comply with the applicable
national standard.
6. Plate Identification
6.1. Plates to be delivered clearly marked with the following information:

7.1. Test reports for each plate are required and they shall report the following:
i) Grade: Reference to this specification (1PL020) and applicable
national standard
ii) Plate Dimension
iii) Number of Plates
iv) Purchase Order No.
v) Heat and Slab Number
vi) Chemistry
vii) Tensile Properties: Tensile Strength, Yield Strength, Elongation,
Reduction of Area
viii) Carbon equivalent
7.2. Optional request with order:
i) Ultrasonic testing to agreed specification
ii) Charpy impact properties

8.1. The following provides the expected chemical analysis and mechanical properties
for the materials of this group.
