BRIGADA ESKWELA 2018

ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

I. INTRODUCTION

Classes set to start on JUNE 04, 2018, the DepEd again mandated every schools to

implement a week long brigada eskwela program that runs from MAY 28 – JUNE 2, 2018 which

aims to prepare all schools, its classroom and premises to be ready and safe for learning activities

wherein positive experiences await the school children.

Educators believe that environment plays a big role in students learning. And so, if

classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor condition and some defective school

facilities, education is hindered. The Department of Education launched Brigada Eskwela 2018

with the theme: Isang DepEd, Isang Pamayanan, Isang Bayanihan, Para sa Handa at Ligtas na

Paaralan. It is a National School Maintenance Week activity which starts from May 28 – JUNE

2, 2018 where Dingading Integrated School, parents, students, stakeholders and the local

community worked hand in hand to ensure readiness and preparedness of school facilities,

ground and the classroom for the coming school opening for the SY 2018 - 2019.

It was indeed a painstaking yet rewarding activity/endeavor that leads to improvement

and strengthens partnership between the school and the community for the benefit of the

learners. The weeklong activity proved the spirit of cooperation and camaraderie that are still

instilled in the hearts of every stakeholders.


II. OBJECTIVES

National Brigada Eskwela 2018 aims to prepare all schools, its classroom and premises
to be ready and safe for everyday teaching-learning process for the opening of each school year.
It is revoke to the practice of cleaning and repairing during class hour.

The immediate needs are identified and are given attention in order to minimize
problems.

III. ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN

The School Head of Dingading Integrated School together with the School
Physical Facilities Coordinator, immediately conducted ocular inspection in the school
before the launching of National School Maintenance Week/Brigada Eskwela which
starts from May 28 – June 2, 2018 thus, the following were the identified problems of the
school which needs urgent solutions.

@Leaking and rusty roofs


@Termite infested ceilings
@Faded walls, doors and blackboards
@Leaking faucets in some classrooms
@Broken window panes/jalousies
@Tall grasses in the forest area and school garden
@Chairs, desks and tables to be repaired

In order to address these problems, the School Head together with the teachers tap
stakeholders who can extend assistance for the successful implementation of the Brigada
Eskwela program. Teachers, parents and other stakeholders joined in the cleaning of the
school grounds/premises, repairing windows and doors, chairs and desks, repainting of
walls, painting of arm chairs and tables, checking of electrical connections, water system
and fixing other classroom paraphernalia. All the member of the brigade worked
tirelessly. They worked with enviable spirit of camaraderie. Through the overwhelming
support of the volunteers, the classrooms are restructured and spruced up. The school
surrounding is now free from tall grasses. Generally, the school is now ready for normal
class every day

@ Weeding and uprooting of weeds/grasses around the school premises
@ Pruning of shrubs and trees
DAY 2 (May 29, 2018)

@ Weeding and uprooting grasses in the GPP area

@ Weeding and uprooting weeds and grasses in front & back of the

Principal’s Office

@ Uprooted/cleaned the reading nook area.

@ Repairing of chairs, leanedtables

@ Teachers/advisers started to cleaned and ensure readiness and

preparedness of learning areas/classrooms

DAY 3 (May 30, 2018)

@ Cleaned the school canteen surroundings

@ Repainting of chairs/desks

@ Fixing chalkboards

DAY 4 (May 31, 2018)

@ Repainting of classroom walls, chairs, cabinets

@ Cleaning and preparing of garden area/backyards

@ Uprooted tall grasses in the school perimeter fence

DAY 5 (June 1, 2018)

@ Continued repainting of classroom walls, chairs, cabinets

@ continued cleaning and preparing of classroom garden area/backyards

@ started to plant ornamental and vegetable plant

DAY 6 (June 2, 2018)

@ Checking of the set-up and readiness/preparedness of school facilities,

ground and classrooms


IV. BEST PRACTICES
1. Stakeholders extend assistance for the successful implementation of the Brigada
Eskwela program.
2. Teachers, parents and other stakeholders joined in the cleaning of the school
premises inside and outside.
3. Through the overwhelming support of the volunteers, the classrooms are
restructured and spruced up.
4. The school surrounding is now free from tall grasses. Generally, the school is
now ready for normal class every day
5. It was indeed a painstaking yet rewarding endeavor that proved the camaraderie
and support of the whole community.
