BABAG 1 ELEMENTARY SCHOOL

SY. 2020-2021

NARRATIVE REPORT
The school is an institution which is responsible in molding the learners
into a responsible individual in the society. This is where one is crafted into a
better person who will be an emblem of the kind of learning center where he
was raised. The primary concern of the school demands working with others
to accomplish designed tasks and objectives. These would need dedicated
school personnel, cooperative parents, helpful community and innovative
learners.

Educators believe that the environment plays a big part in student’s

learning. And so, if classrooms are not conducive to learning because of poor
condition and some defective school facilities, education is hindered. The
Department of Education conducted this year’s Brigada Eskwela, also known
as the National School Maintenance Week (Deped Memorandum No. 36 s.
2020) on May 20, 2020 – May 25, 2020 where all educators and stakeholders
contributed their time, efforts and resources in ensuring that the school
facilities are ready in time for the school opening. Parents, school alumni and
other people from the community were encouraged to join the week-long
annual program.

Due to the 2019 Covid 19 pandemic, there were changes in the Brigada
Eskwela as opening of classes was moved to October 5, 2020. Early morning
on June 1, 2020, the first day of parents, teachers and community were
encouraged to watch the Division Virtual Brigada Eskwela kick off after
which all schools started the Brigada Eskwela Implementation. Babag 1
Elementary School teachers, stakeholders, and NGO’s participated the
Brigada Eskwela 2020. It was not a usual scenario as volunteers observed the
IATF Health Protocol due to Covid 19 pandemic. Only teachers and few
volunteers were allowed to enter the school premises. Guards on duty were
instructed to get the temperature and were told to remind parents and visitors
to wash their hands before they were granted permission to help disinfect the
classrooms and other school premises.

One of Brigada Eskwela’s highlight is knowing the fact that the

environment plays an enormous role in pupil’s learning. If classrooms as well
as other school facilities are not conducive to learning, therefore it lessens the
quality of education our learners best deserve. So the initiative of Deped is to
have the spirit of volunteerism adhering to this year’s Brigada Eskwela’s
theme: “Pagpapanatili ng Bayanihan tungo sa Kalidad ng Edukasyon para
sa Kabataan”.
Bayanihan as we Filipinos call it to clean up and repair the school
environment and facilities before the opening of classes. Some stakeholders
donated thermal scanners, alcohols, face masks, face shields, disinfectants,
hand washing soaps and other health and safety needs to ensure the safety of
school officials, teachers and parents during the distribution and retrieval of
modules. The DRRM coordinator also displayed the tarpaulin with some
reminders for health and safety. The school also constructed hand washing
areas with four faucets at the left and right side of the gate so that parents and
visitors could wash their hands upon entering the school and before
proceeding to their respective classrooms. At the door of every classrooms
were foot mat with disinfectants too. Arrows for social distancing and ways
for the entrance and exit were visible and strictly followed.
The school also requested people from the Clean and Green to
prune trees to avoid entanglement from electrical wirings and avoid potential
harm to life and property. Some classrooms that need repairs were already
been replaced with new ones like the roof and ceiling. Learning parks were
also constructed and Gulayan sa Paaralan were already planted with different
kinds of vegetables. Clogged drainages were already been taken care of and
water system was also distributed to every classrooms, washing areas and
comfort rooms. Internal stakeholders headed by the hardworking principal,
Miss Glenda B. Pogoy and 64 dedicated teachers shared their part for the
improvement of the school. Alas, the school is now ready to cater school
children if face to face classes will be allowed, “TAGA BABAG 1
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
KAMI, WE ARE READY!”
