“Project PATSADA”
Title
(Teacher-Students-Parent-Principal and Stakeholders Approach)

A. Description:

Project PATSADA is a program for school beautification and cleanliness

program by the Department of Education, Division of Camiguin for a safe,

conducive and attractive learning environment.

The project name was derived from a Cebuano word which means

beautiful. Through this project, the stakeholders, parents and students get

attracted to the school. This further reflects to the goal of the project which is

to ensure that all public schools have healthy flowering plants in the school

premises and that cleanliness is observed at all times.

It is intended for the secondary schools in Division of

Camiguinnamely;Lawigan-Bura NHS, Bonbon NHS, Yumbing NHS, Mambajao

NHS, Tupsan NHS, Sixto A. Abao NHS, Mahinog NHS, Guinsiliban NHS, and

MAAC NHS. This is based on the observation that most of the secondary

schools in the entire division only have beautiful buildings and facilities but

lack of schools beautification like landscaping with green and healthy flowering

plants. Thus, this project will make the schools more conducive and attractive

to the learners and stakeholders.

All the secondary schools mentioned above are required to plant robust

plants namely; yellow bells, gumamela, roses, daisies, orchids and Vietnam

roses. These flowers should be grouped and planted according to its

kind. Moreover, cleanliness should be observed at all times through proper

waste disposal which will be regularly monitored by the teachers.

B. Management of the Program:

The project will be implemented to all Secondary Schools in the entire

division excluding Sagay and Catarman Districts as well asthe Integrated

Schools which will be managed by the School Heads and Teachers in each

school. The stakeholders particularly the parents, barangay officials,

Sangguniang Kabataan councils, Sangguniang Bayan members in the

municipalities where the schools are located, alumni and religious sectors

concerned are involved in the implementation through monitoring, evaluating

and fostering of financial or material assistance needed for the realisation of

the said project. It is a unified project but the implementation is school-based.

C. Delivery Mode:

School heads and members of the beautification and cleanliness

committee will hold a conference for the purpose of soliciting ideas on how to

make the school more attractive and inviting to the learners, to the tourists as

well as to the community. This conference will be conducted on the third week

of July to immediately plan for the things to be done. Sites/areas for

beautification and landscaping must be identified for a unified action.

Allamanda, also known as the golden yellow bell flower or golden trumpet

will be planted along the baseline of the outside fences/walls of the school

perimeter. This flower is intentionally chosen to be planted outside because it

has rich green foliage and bright yellow blooms, which mean the leaves, will

remain green, even during the dormant seasons. Under the yellow bells will

planted with other kinds of flowers such as Vietnam roses, daisies,

dwarfsantan and gumamela.

The following activities such as land preparation, collection of flowers to

be planted, beautification materials and working out on landscaping should be

executed collaboratively by the students together with the teachers, parents

and the support of the stakeholders of the schools.

Beautification of the identified areas will not be realized without the use

of appropriate materials. Driftwood and crashed rocks will be used for

landscaping. Soil type and shades are considered when choosing flowers to be

planted depending on the area of the school in the district. However,

landscaping on the outside of the schools will be equally patterned among the

districts of this division.

D. Target and Number of Participants/Schools:

Based on observation, some secondary schools in the entire division have

landscaped areas with varied flowers. However, the landscaped areas were not

unified. Thus, to make the landscape ideas unified, all the 8 secondary schools

in this division namely;Lawigan-Bura NHS, Bonbon NHS, Yumbing NHS,

Mambajao NHS, Tupsan NHS, Sixto A. Abao NHS, Mahinog NHS, Guinsiliban

NHS, and MAAC NHS should comply with the unifiedidea of landscaping

including the kinds of flowers to be planted. The Camiguin NHS, EUPNHS and

the integrated schools are excluded since they crafted their own proposals in

their respective districts. In a total, there are 15 secondary schools in this

division by which 10 secondary schools and 5 integrated schools. This means

that 53% of the total secondary schools shall implement this beautification

project which will be engaged by 85-100% participation of stakeholders and

clienteles to make sure that all the secondary schools are not only abundant

with great learning but also in authentic beauty.

in the school premises and that cleanliness is observed at all times. Hence, all

secondary schools in the division are obliged to comply and implement this

project.

In Camiguin division, there are ten(10) secondary schools and

five(5) integrated schools. However, only eight(8) among the ten(10) secondary

schools will be included in the scope of this project namely: Lawigan-Bura
