INTRODUCTION:
“Unity is strength, when there is teamwork and collaboration, wonderful things can be achieved.” –
Mattie J.T. Stepanek
In support to DepEd Order No. 49, S. 2011 entitled “Mandated Programs, Projects and Activities of the
Supreme Student Government,” the Malubog Integrated School SPG and SSG teacher – advisers initiated an
assembly among the SSG officers and the SPG officers’ parents/guardians, in collaboration with the school’s
Gulayan sa Paaralan and Clean and Green coordinators. a face – to – face assembly on Wednesday, March 23,
2022 at 01:00 P.M. – 04:00 P.M. at the MlS ground.
OBJECTIVES:
 To conduct Kamustahan with the SPG and SSG officers
 To review the mandated programs/projects of SPG & SSG
 To plan strategies and programs that can help in reducing and reusing waste and will also
serve as an income generating project of the school
 To make a resolution for the implementation of the agreed program/s and project/s of the
organization
 And other matters
ACTIVITIES UNDERTAKEN:
To formally start the activity, Ms. Divine Joy Cinco, the SSG teacher – adviser, led the prayer, followed
by the singing of the Philippine National Anthem, and DepEd Cebu City Division Hymn. After giving her
opening remarks, Ms. Divine welcomed the learner and parent participants, as well as the invited GsP and Clean
& Green coordinators. We quick Kamustahan with the learners and parents to check on them and how they
were going so far.
To provide concrete evidence on the SPG & SSG duties and responsibilities, Ms. Divine gave a
comprehensive discussion on the mandated programs/projects that the SPG & SSG organization should
perform. It was clear in the DepEd Order No. 49, S. 2011, the programs that the student leaders should led and
assist in the implementation process. The DepEd Order was introduced so that the student leaders and the
parents/guardians will become aware of their (student leaders) obligations as part of the organization. It was
also expounded as basis for the next agenda of the meeting.
For the next part, Ms. Divine talked about the focus of the meeting which was to plan with the attendees
the strategies and programs that can help in reducing and reusing waste and will also serve as an income
generating project of the school. She then presented her SSG & SPG Project ideas which were the Vertical
Gardening and Proper Waste Segregation. To capture the interest of the participants, Ms. Divine defined the
concept of the projects and even showed videos on vertical gardening and recycling ideas. The projects were
praised by the audience. Ms. Divine also added the Waste Disposal/Segregation project which is requiring the
student leaders to install garbage bins for non – biodegradable, biodegradable, and recyclable waste materials.
To give a piece of my mind, I showed my presentation of the “I BIN RECYCLING” (IBR) Project. The
idea was anchored to the Waste Management Program (WMP) that the organization aims to successfully
implemented. The activities involved in the IBR Project were the collection of recyclable materials, specifically
empty plastic bottles for the vertical gardening, and old mega box, damaged tires, used wire mesh, wood scraps,
etc., for the Composting Project. The idea of composting was not new to everyone, but to refresh the
participants about the concept and benefits of composting, I gave a thorough discussion on the concept and
process of recycling organic waste materials through composting. The project was another strategy for the
Waste Management Program. I also assured the participants that the composting project has zero cost because
the entire process only requires recyclable organic and inorganic waste. For the compost bin, I suggested that
we use whatever available container may it be old mega box, damaged tires, used wire mesh, wood scraps, and
the likes, with the aim that we do not spend any amount. The rest of the materials needed for the compost were
readily available in the community. The product of this project will be utilized for the vertical gardening and
other planting activities in the future. I also made them aware of the fact that tis project is a long term because
of the decomposition process takes 3 – 12 months depending on the amount of the compost materials and other
factors as well. I also encourage the participants to start composting in their homes, so they do not need to buy
fertilizers for their farms or gardens. I ended my presentation by inspiring the student leaders and

parent/guardian attendees about the beauty of the programs and projects and the positive effects on it to the
environment, to the school, to the learner beneficiaries, and of course to the student leaders as well.
For the later part of the assembly, Ms. Divine asked the participants’ opinions and reactions on our
proposed projects. Most of the attendees were thrilled to start the activities and others were curious as to how
and when to begin. Ms. Divine then asked the Gulayan sa Paaralan JHS coordinator, Mrs. Regine Enisola, to
share the good news. Mrs. Regine had coordinated with her friends in the Department of Agriculture (DA) and
asked them to provide us with seedlings which will be utilized for our vertical gardening. The Gulayan sa
Paaralan and Clean & Green coordinators guaranteed to help in the implementation process of the
organization’s programs and projects. Ms. Divine then asked the SSG president and SPG president’s parent if
they agree to pursue our proposals for this school year. The SSG president said they (together with the other
officers) can start the vertical project anytime. The SPG president’s parent also affirmed and gave a thumbs up.
Ms. Divine and I suggested to begin the I BIN RECYCLING Project by asking the attendees to set up a
garbage bin for recyclable materials outside the school, preferably near the entrance to collect empty plastics
bottles for the vertical gardening. Every learner of Malubog Integrated School will be encouraged to bring at
least one. The attendees were also tasked to spread the information to their neighbors, friends, and families.
To close the meeting, everyone posed for the photo opportunity. The SSG officers had their own
meeting, while the SPG officers’ parents had a conversation about the program.
IMPACT OF THE ACTIVITIES/RESULTS:
The assembly was successful because every participant was attentive to the facilitators’ presentation.
They also engaged in the open forum and even offered to bring materials needed for the projects. There was
unity amongst the student leaders, parents, the GsP and Clean & Green coordinators, and the teacher – advisers.
We are confident that we can start the project by next week as planned during the meeting because of the
eagerness of the teacher – advisers, the enthusiasm of the GsP and Clean and Green coordinators, and the
commitment of the SPG & SSG student leaders and their parents.
