2 SITE LAYOUT
When setting a suitable site for a project, the layout of the process units and auxiliary
buildings should allow for the most efficient movement of materials and employees across
the site. Hazardous procedures should be kept a safe distance away from adjacent structures.
The site's future expansion must also be taken into account[ CITATION GTo \l 1033 ]. The
following are some of the ancillary structures and services required to support the plant's
main process activities:

11.2.1 Plant site

This is the major component of the plant where the production of BHET takes place. This
area would encompass all the equipment for production.

11.2.2 Storage Facilities

This area of the plant site is the warehouse, where raw materials and products would be
stored. PET bottles would be stored in sacks, Di-ethylene glycol in large storage tanks, Zinc
acetate and BHET flakes stored in air tight drums, all of which are to be labelled properly.
Storage facilities that are sufficient allow processes to continue even when demand and
supply fluctuate seasonally.

11.2.3 Unloading and Loading Terminals

Unloading and loading processes take place in these parts of the plants. Metering equipment
will be placed at these two terminals to properly measure and record the quantities of
feedstock received and end goods delivered. The terminals will be strategically placed to
provide for simple access to the existing road infrastructure.

11.2.4 Maintenance Workshop

Maintenance operations on machines will be carried out in this area of the plant site in order
to restore a component that is about to fail or a failed component to its original intended state.
This measure reduces the frequency of equipment breakdowns and the occurrence of risks at
the facility. It will be near to the main process area to allow for quick repairs.

11.2.5 Utilities Building

They provide specific areas for mechanical and electrical equipment to be housed. Utility
buildings are where the following services are usually available; Electricity, Steam, for
process heating, cooling water, water for general use, demineralized water, compressed air,
inert-gas supplies, refrigeration. The utility buildings on the plant site will be positioned in
such a way that the process pipes linking the different unit processes and auxiliary equipment
may operate efficiently.

11.2.6 Quality Assurance Laboratory

This section contains the various machinery and equipment required to conduct a wide range
of tests on both raw materials obtained from vendors and the finished product. This is done to
verify that quality feedstock is utilized in the manufacturing process and that the final sale
goods fulfill the country's apex standardization body's minimal requirements.

11.2.7 Effluent Treatment Plant

The major focus of this section of the plant site is the correct treatment of effluents from the
main processing units in order to ensure their safe release into the environment.

11.2.8 Health Clinic

The health clinic is an on-site facility where medical services will be provided. In the event of
a workplace accident, medical staff can respond quickly to provide first aid to the wounded
worker. He or she will then be sent to a health facility for a complete medical evaluation and
treatment.

11.2.9 Fire Stations

These will be strategically placed at the plant site to offer firefighting assistance in the event
of a fire or explosion. A fire suppression system will be built across the factory site, in
addition to backup firefighting trucks; it will utilize a combination of powdered chemicals
and/or wet agents to put out flames caused by equipment.

11.2.10 Canteen
During breaks or at the end of the day, workers can purchase meals and various types of
refreshment at this spot. To avoid contamination with plant effluents, it would be located well
away from the plant.

11.2.11 Administrative Complex

Administrative and management tasks such as budgeting, record keeping, logistical planning,
and so on take place in these areas. In order to promote profitability, the various business
divisions here will work together to guarantee the efficient and effective usage of all resource
types.
11.2.12 Muster Point
In the event of an emergency, a muster point is a specified location or area where all workers,
guests, or visitors to the work site, or a big crowd, can gather. It's also known as an EAP
(emergency assembly point) or just "assembly point.". The muster locations, which will be
strategically placed throughout the facility, will be clearly labelled for simple identification.
