WHAT IS TALENT ACQUISITION MANAGEMENT?

Talent Acquisition is the process by which an organization identifies, attracts and hires qualified
people who are best fit for the organization. Talent management is how these skilled employees are
retained and their skills are further developed. Both these processes together are extremely
important techniques needed by an organization.

WHAT ARE THE FACTORS AFFECTING TALENT ACQUISITION?

ORGANIZATIONAL FACTORS:

 REPUTATION OF THE ORGANIZATION: Potential candidates will be considering an

organization that has a good name and reputation. The good name of the
organization will thus increase changes of recruitment as more candidates will be
attracted to join the company.
For example, Deloitte has earned a good name and reputation for itself. Hence,
candidates are eager to work in this organization.
 ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE: a good motivating organizational culture will
encourage more people to find it attractive to work for the company. Determining
the organizational culture and then marketing the organization around it will help
the company to source talented and skilled candidates that will help in the growth of
the organization.
For example, the organizational culture of Tata group is well known and admired.
Hence more number of talents find it an honour to work for the organization.
 GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION OF POSITION: Cities and urban areas are always seen as a
better source of opportunity and career growth by potential candidates. Thus slightly
backward or rural areas might suffer the loss of talented employees as they often
tend to move out of these regions in search of potential growth.
 CHANNELS AND METHODS OF ADVERTISING: Correct methods of advertising when
adopted by an organization, increases their chances of exposure as it reaches more
number of people and they become aware about the organization. Hence
advertisement can improve an organization’s value and attract more number of
talents.
 EMOLUMENTS OFFERED: organizations which pay their employees well, give bonus
and benefits to their employees are likely to retain more employees as employee
satisfaction prevails and this in turn positively effects employee productivity.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

 LABOUR MARKET SITUATION: labour market controls the demand and supply of
labour. For example, if the supply of people having a specific skill is less than the
demand, then the hiring will need more efforts.
 STAGE OF DEVELOPMENT OF INDUSTRY: Industries which are developed are more
likely to attract potential candidates. Candidates tend to choose developed or fast
growing industries in search of scope and opportunity.
For example, Software industry is thriving nowadays, hence more and more people
are attracted to work in this industry, in companies like TCS, Infosys.
 CULTURE, SOCIAL ATTITUDES AND BELIEFS: In every organization there are people
from different regions, with different beliefs and attitudes which sometimes affect
the talent acquisition in an organization.
 LEGAL IMPLICATIONS: employers are required to take into consideration the legal
requirements while going through the process of recruitment. This plays an
important role at every stage of the recruitment process.
For example, a recruiter needs to know the criminal background of a candidate.
