Exercise 1B and 1C; read the short texts independently. Underline all verb + noun collocations in the
texts/write them down.
Ask for words they don’t understand, then read together. As they match persons 1-3 from the exercise
with the meeting groups on the right, make them justify their answers (What does that person like?
Why is the group good for them?); check correct use of present simple and activity verbs.
Students answer one after another which group they would choose.

walking.) Explain and provide examples. Encourage them to refer to all the previous exercises.
2. Then they swap their texts in pairs. Each student writes another, two-paragraph long text, where
he gives advice to their classmate how to meet people in a new city.
Use activity verbs and learned conjunctions. Refer to the textbook.
