- Have a student come up to the board and circle the subject (the person or
thing acting in the sentence), put a box around the verb, underline the
noun, and put a triangle around the negative form of the verb do.

Extension Activity

Do the Detective extension activity.
- Divide the class into teams of four. Have each team think of an object, a
person, or an animal and write a positive or negative sentence about it on
the slips of paper.
- Collect the slips of paper from each team and have a team come out to the
front of the class.
- Give the team a set of paper and have each member read a slip and make
a guess.
- Have the next team come out and do the same until all teams have
participated.
