‫ُﺳْﻮَرة اﻟُﻤَﻨﺎﻓِﻘْﻮن‬: Present-Tense ‫ ﻓﻌﻞ‬Part 1

1. ‫ ﻧﺸَﻬُﺪ‬- we testify

َ َ 9
2. ‫ َوٱﻟﻠـُﻪ ﻓْﻌﻠُﻢ‬- Is the word ‫ اﷲ‬the outside doer? It cannot be because the doer cannot come
before the ‫ﻓﻌﻞ‬. In this sentence the word ‫ اﷲ‬is the ‫ ﻣﺒﺘﺪأ‬and ‫ ﻳﻌﻠﻢ‬is the ‫ﺧﺒ‬. Also remember that
‫ ﻳﻌﻠﻢ‬is a sentence on its own since it is a ‫ﻓﻌﻞ‬. The translation is ‘Allah, he knows.’

3. ‫ َوٱﻟﻠـُﻪ ﻳ َﺸَﻬُﺪ‬- same as above, ‘Allah, he testifies.’

َ ََْ
4. ‫ ﻻ ﻓﻔﻘُﻬْﻮن‬- ‘They do not understand’

ْ َ َ ُ
5. ‫ ﻳْﻌِﺠﺒُﻚ أﺟَﺴﺎُﻣُﻬْﻢ‬- ‘Their bodies impress you’.

َ َ ُ ُ
6. ‫ن ﻳﻘْﻮﻟﻮا ﺗْﺴَﻤْﻊ ﻟِﻘْﻮﻟ ِِﻬْﻢ‬O‫ و‬- remember that ‫ إن‬makes the following ‫ ﻓﻌﻞ‬lightest, but why is ‫ﺗﺴﻤﻊ‬
lightest?

Whenever you have an ‘if’ (‫)إن‬, you have a ‘then’. The ‘then’ portion also becomes lightest
because of the ‘if’ portion.

‘If they speak, (then) you would listen to their word’

7. ‫ﺤٍﺔ َﻋﻠﻴِْﻬْﻢ‬
َ ْ‫ﺻ ﻴ‬
َ ‫ﻛ‬ ‫ ﻳﺴﺒﻮن‬- ‘they imagine every single outcry is against them.’
