Music Theory exams – March 2021

Online Music Theory exams

(Grades 1 to 5) – we are cancelling
the online exams planned for 16
March. Exams in May and June will
go ahead as planned.
Paper Music Theory exams
(Grades 6 to 8) – we will not be
offering these exams in March. The
next exams at Grades 6 to 8 will be
in June 2021.
Grade 5 Music Theory requirement
- from 1 January to 30 April 2021
only, candidates can take Grade 6 to
8 Performance or Practical exams
without first passing Grade 5 Music
Theory. From 1 May 2021, the Grade
5 Music Theory requirement will
return with flexibility about timing.

Remotely-assessed Performance Grades

and ARSM – 15% discount

The next booking period for remotely-

assessed Performance Grade and ARSM
exams opens on 7 January 2021. We are
extending the introductory 15% discount for
exams booked during January 2021. Just
enter code ABPG15HK when you book
using our online service. Please also read
our discount information and terms and
conditions here.

National ID numbers

If you are creating an account or booking

exams, you will need to enter a National ID
(card) number when prompted. The field
requires you to enter 9 characters. For
shorter ID numbers, please add the number
‘0’ to the end until you have a 9 digit
number. For Performance Grade
candidates, the ID number shown in the
video recording must match the one used
during booking, but without any additional
zeros.

Performance Grades are remotely-assessed exams

available at Grades 1 to 8. We also offer a remote-
assessment option for ARSM exams. When you
book an exam you can select an exam submission
date from a list of options available during the exam
session. This will be the latest date by which you
must upload and submit the exam recording.

The next booking period for remotely-assessed

Performance Grade and ARSM exams opens on 6
January 2021. We are extending the introductory

International transaction fees

Exam booking and cancellation payments

made through our online service are international
transactions. Your bank may charge you for
processing these transactions. These additional
charges are made by your bank or card issuer and
not by ABRSM. Charges will vary, depending on the
payment method and the bank or institution you use
to make the payment. Please refer to your bank or
card issuer for information about international
transaction fees.

Diploma retake fees

Please note that retake fees apply only to candidates

applying for a partial retake (2.2 or 2.1 and 2.2, etc.). If
candidates are retaking the complete exam, the full fee
is payable.

Representative who will advise you of the local fee and
method of payment.

** For multiple candidates, the investigation fee

charged will not exceed five times the local Grade 5
Practical/Music Theory fee.
