Reflection

The vision, mission, objectives, and core values in an institution are important. It greatly
helps us students and even the faculty and staffs because it aligns us with our goals. It also
empowers and encourage us to continue striving to accomplish things. It shows what are the
university’s purpose, aims, commitments and goals. It gives the institution a clarity and
direction. It plays a useful role in helping the university to be positive and productive learning
communities.

The Misamis University vision, mission, objectives are important to me as a student as it

will be my guide me to enhance my skills and abilities and in building my self-confidence and
self-esteem. The institution also helps me to pursue and achieve my dreams and goals in life with
a high moral value. These also taught me how to be God-fearing, principled, socially responsible,
service oriented and environmentally concerned. As the institution believe that shaping the
students character will lead the university to success and will serve the community and country
with love, loyalty and honesty, I also believe to myself that I can do more than what they are
expecting in me.

The university also has core values that can help in molding myself. These are honesty,
integrity, loyalty and excellence. First is honesty, wherein the institution believe that it is the
foundation of everything else we do and the unavoidable first step toward change, growth,
accountability, healing, trust and love. As a nursing student, applying the value of honesty is
really important because it will help me in developing good attributes like kindness, discipline,
truthfulness, and in building a positive and healthy relationship with my fellow students and even
with my teachers and other faculty and staff of the university. Also as a future nurse, the value of
honesty is needed because it matters a lot to the patients. They need it because they are ill,
vulnerable and burdened with pressing questions with require truthful answers. And also by
being honest in serving them will lead me to build and maintain good connection and
partnership.

Second is integrity wherein as nursing student the practice of integrity is a great help
because in the near future, one’s life is my responsibility. One of my work is to help assist the
patients in their health and medications. In connection with the practice of integrity, I will be
honest in telling them their condition and accommodate them to what are their needs. Assist
them to whatever they like and I will be needing a lot of patience to handle different kinds of
situation. In communicating with them, I will be honest and well mannered so that they will
understand and trust me to what I am telling.

Next core value is loyalty. As a student, I am engaged and loyal to my studies wherein I
will do all my best to complete and succeed in the near future. Loyalty as a nurse in the future is
a great impact towards the patient because by being loyal to my commitment it can create a
positive change of a patient’s mind set. By being loyal to my work it will motivate me to strive
harder in helping my patients because in this type of field, the tasks are not that easy. It needs
commitment, hard work and knowledge to surpass the challenges that I will encounter.

Lastly in core values is excellence. It is understandable that as a student, I will do all my

best to participate in class, submit all my requirements, and maintain good grades. For this will
help me complete my BSN program successfully and proceed as a nurse in the future. Also, in
my work, I will do everything to accommodate all my patients under my care. I will help the
doctors in serving the hospital and the community.

In summary to my reflection in the vision, mission, objectives and core values of

Misamis University, it will absolutely help me to be the best version of myself. It will be my
guide in achieving my career and steps towards success. Shapes me to be the best nurse in the
near future. Molds me to be strong and brave so that I will keep on serving my community and
my country. The vision, mission, objective, and core values help me realize that in order to attain
my goals in life, I should have not only knowledge but also good moral values and principles in
life.
