Conference Availability: Tuesday’s and Thursdays 1-4pm
INSTRUCTIONAL EMPHASIS: This class expands on previous courses through more in-depth exploration of
Creating, Presenting and Responding to art while Connecting the world to art to other areas of learning and
personal endeavors.
The CTLS Standards are divided into the following areas.

• Creating
• Presenting
• Responding
• Connecting
Grades: All assignments will fall under (10%) Participation Formative (40%) and (50%) Summative categories.
All Creating assessments are considered Summative. Absent students will receive one day for every excused
absence to turn I missed work.
Classes will be recorded so if you miss a class for any reason, excused or not, you are responsible for making
up the work. Talk with me if you have a problem.
Art classes are NOT an easy A. You earn every grade through hard work and dedication.
Application:

• Explore art criticism and aesthetics to support higher order thinking and writing.
• Connect common vocabulary between visual arts language arts and math.
• Be exposed to careers in the visual arts to support college and career readiness.
• Curriculum related movies that may be shown in art class are, The Ron Clark Story, Night at the
Museum, Front of the Class, Looney Tunes (Chuck Jones, Animator, Wallace & Gromit and Wonder.

It is the student’s responsibility to be prompt and prepared for class each day, to work within the rules and
guidelines of the classroom and to complete all assignments.
Students are supposed to be in all classes, synchronous and asynchronous and working on assignments for
that class.
Students should have a sketchbook or construction paper to use in class every day.

All work will be submitted through CTLS. Please don’t add links or email work to me. It will not be counted. WE
will go over how to submit artwork and how to take the best pictures of your work.
