 Title:

Think outside the trash…Recycle!

 Problem Identification:

IBA has always fulfilled its social responsibility by taking part in various programs
including extensive projects, such as ‘Responsible Citizen Initiative/Internship Program’,
to small scale programs like tree plantation drives. However, one very essential social
and environmental issue has not been catered to yet, which is of proper waste disposal
and recycling system.

 Proposal Idea:
With growing intake of students at IBA, it has become imperative to introduce a proper
end to end mechanism to collect, process and recycle or dispose the waste accordingly.
We will be installing recycle bins next to waste bins, while ensuring compliance through
motivation and education can help start something significantly impactful and will be
quickly replicated because of IBA’s reputation of being at the forefront of change.
 Description:
The collected waste will be transported to one of the several recycling facilities.
Moreover, useful products can also be brought to IBA for sale such as paper products to
further encourage the use of recycled products.
 Mechanism:
There are many great reasons to recycle. Recycling is an easy way to help not only your
community but the world as well. The recycling process is a three-part cycle that can produce
some great things for not only the community but the country as well. The three steps are:
1. Collection:
The first step is to collect the materials that can be recycled. The most common
items that can be recycled curbside are paper & cardboard, glass, cans, and
plastics. Tentatively, the collection process will be handled by the outsourced
vendor “Multi Tech”, which is currently responsible for the garbage collection at
IBA

2. Transportation: Once the vendor which will be responsible for the recycling of the
waste will be finalized, we will create a weekly or bimonthly transportation plan.
3. Recycling: The waste management will be outsourced to a vendor who meets the
different criteria, essential for a long term and effective recycling system at IBA.

1.Collection

3. Recycling

2.Transportation

 How many users are likely to be benefited?

The target of this proposal is the entire population at IBA. Students will benefit by
gaining insight as to why recycling is highly necessitated and by reducing waste in the
environment. The whole faculty, staff and campus community will be actively upholding
and contributing the goals set forth by our Environment Sustainability Plan.
 How will we determine if the outcomes have been achieved?
We will be analyzing the bin contents over a period of time. This will be used to
determine the quantity of recyclable materials captured that would otherwise have been
dumped in a landfill.
