Position: Research Engineer (Application) in 3D Printing Application
Area: 4IR / 3D Printing

Description

The DEWA R&D Center is looking to fill the vacancy of a research engineer to contribute in a project
for feasibility and deployment of 3d printing parts. Specifically, the research engineer will:

i) develop and conduct research in area of: feasibility and deployment of parts using additive
manufacturing,
ii) identify user specifications and requirements for 3d printed parts,
iii) analyze relevant applications based on user specifications,
iv) conduct workshops related to additive manufacturing,
v) perform 3D design, 3D printing, and evaluation/testing of parts

The project requires an understanding of Additive Manufacturing design, modeling, and processes,
production of on-demand parts, skills to conduct feasibility and deployment of 3D printed parts. The
candidate should be proficient in the Additive Manufacturing application, including design, process,
and evaluation/testing.

The candidate should be comfortable working as member of a dynamic, research-oriented group with
several ongoing concurrent projects across multiple areas but also manage individual tasks
independently. Thinking out of the box and comfort in bridging cross-disciplinary silos to conduct
innovative research are strongly desirable qualities.

Preferred Qualifications

- M.Sc. / M.Eng. in a related discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material
Science & Engineering, Engineering Systems and Management, or relevant field
- Strong industrial/research experience related to deployment of 3d printing application in a large
organization.
- Experience with multi-skills of: additive manufacturing process and application, conventional
machining manufacturing process, lean manufacturing or equivalent production optimization, on-
demand manufacturing for 3d printing applications, mechanical testing, G code preparation,
slicing software, parameter control, redesign evaluation, design best-practice.
- Strong industrial/research experience with 3D design and geometric modeling .
- Excellent knowledge of different types of Additive Manufacturing processes and applications.
- Excellent communications and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent presentation and writing skill.
- Scopus-indexed publication record.
- Intellectual property (patent) record.
- Experience with Fab Lab.

Basic Qualifications
- B.Sc. or B.Eng. in a related discipline e.g. Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Material
Science & Engineering, Engineering Systems and Management, or relevant field
- Basic industrial/research exposure in manufacturing process/parts production
- Basic experience with 3d design and geometric modeling.
- Basic knowledge of different types of Additive Manufacturing processes and applications.
- Good communications and interpersonal skills.
- Good presentation and writing skill.
