Biographical characteristics: Finding and analyzing the variables that have impact on employee

productivity, Such as age, gender, marital status, tenure, race and ethnicity, disability, and length of
service are some of the most obvious ways employees differ in construction industry. These
characteristics are surface level diversity of organization.

Biographical characteristics company should concentrate:

Age : The relationship between age and job performance is increasing in importance. There is a
widespread belief that job performance declines with increasing age, workers over 55 are the fastest
growing sector of the workforce. Older workers are also perceived as lacking flexibility and as being
resistant to new technology. It is tempting to assume that age is also inversely related to absenteeism.
There is a widespread belief that productivity declines with age and that individual skills decay over time.

Gender: There are few, if any, important differences between men and women that will affect their job
performance, including the areas of:
• Problem-solving
• Analytical skills
• Competitive drive
• Motivation
• Sociability
• Learning ability
Women are more willing to conform to authority, and men are more aggressive and more likely than
women to have expectations of success, but those differences are minor. There is no evidence indicating
that an employee’s gender affects job satisfaction. There is a difference between men and women in terms
of preference for work schedules.

Marital status: There are not enough studies to draw any conclusions about the effect of marital status on
job productivity. Research consistently indicates that married employees have fewer absences, undergo
fewer turnovers, and are more satisfied with their jobs than are their unmarried coworkers.

Tenure: Often is seen as a positive as it signifies that people are happy with their employment because
they have remained in their job for a long period of time. The issue of the impact of job seniority on job
performance has been subject to misconceptions and speculations.

Race and ethnicity: It has significant effect on job performance especially when we working in
construction industry. It has been shown , however, that people in the workplace do identify more with
people like themselves so in some cases there maybe opportunities given to people based on the fact that
they are like their supervisor.

Disability:

Making inferences about the relationship between disability and employment outcomes is difficult
because the term disability is so broad. The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission classifies
a person as disabled who has any physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more
major life activities. Some jobs obviously cannot be accommodated to some disabilities—the law and
common sense recognize that a blind person could not be a bus driver, a person with severe cerebral
palsy could not be a surgeon, and a person with profound mobility constraints probably could not be a
police patrol officer. So disability factor is also consider in construction recruitment process.
Ali must be lacking in internal communication skill, interpersonal communication skill, confident public
speaking, strategic and analytical thinking, and maintaining an attitude of lifelong learning,

Internal communication skills: As a marketer, you’re not just communicating with your target
audience. You’re communicating internally with your co-workers and boss as well. Keeping clear and
consistent messaging within your marketing team means you can get more done, and you don’t have to
worry about another team member running a project off the rails.

Interpersonal communication skill: Interpersonal communication skills go hand in hand with internal
communication skills. This particular skill set, however, is focused on how things are said, not just what
has been said. As a marketer, you need to be aware of the people around you and what you are
intentionally or unintentionally saying at all times.

Confident public speaker: As a marketer, you need to be able to pitch your project or your product
with ease. If you appear to have confidence in what you’re saying your audience will, too.

Strategic and analytical thinking: As a marketer, must maintain a self responsible attitude and
capitalize on strengths and minimize weaknesses. Also become solution-oriented, welcome risks and get
comfortable with unknowns.

Maintain an attitude of lifelong learning: As marketers, we’re always taking in new information
whether that be a new advertising tactic or a research report that’s been published about our target
audience.
