2156-99-C1-S2 / 2
ITEM: SHEET
Davy Process Technology SPECIFICATION 3 of 3
TITLE:
STRUCTURAL STEEL ERECTION
1.0 INTRODUCTION
This specification covers unloading, storage, erection, and jobsite inspection of structural steel.
This specification shall be used in conjunction with project Civil/Structural Design Criteria 2156-99-
A0-Z1.
If there is a conflict between PIP STS05130 specifications and a referenced document or local
building code, the more stringent requirement will govern.
3.1 Add paragraph 6.4.3.1 to read: Unless noted otherwise on the drawing, anchor bolts shall
be tightened a quarter of a turn after being brought in contact with the base plate.
3.2 Add paragraph 6.5.8 to read: Unless noted on the drawings, all connections shall be snug
tight.
3.3 Add paragraph 6.5.9 to read: Installation of hoisting devices for monorails shall comply with
ANSI MH27.1. Where monorails are supported from their top flange and the slope on the
flange is greater than 1:20, beveled washers shall be used to compensate for the lack of
parallelism. Lock nuts or other means shall be provided to prevent the nuts from backing
off.
3.4 Add paragraph 6.7.6 to read: Unless shown on the structural drawings or the field-erection
drawings, no holes of any kind shall be placed in the structural or miscellaneous steel
members.
