Lesson°1: Teaching Learning Foreign Language.

1_Differences between approach, method and technique:


An Approach: An approach is a set of theories and principles, it is treating
something in a certain way; also, an approach is a set of assumptions about the
nature of language and language learning. Learning approach is the way teacher
views the learning process.

A Method: A method is the application of the detailed aspects of an approach.


It consists of number of techniques used in systematic way to achieve the aim of
language learning. It includes the selection and gradation of materials to be
taught.

A Technique: It is a procedure used by the teacher “what the teacher does” in


the class room (implementation of a method).

2_Differce between Learning and Acquisition (2nd Language):

Learning Acquisition

_The child is Conscious. _ The child is Subconscious.
_Explicit. (grammar) _Implicit. (grammar)

Lesson°2: Intelligence.

Definition:
Intelligence (human Intelligence) is a mental capability that
involves the ability to reason, plan, use memory, think abstractly,
solve problems, learn from life experiences, understand our
surrounding, adapt to new situations and to communicate effectively.
Howard Gardner (American psychologist) introduced his theory
of Multiple Intelligence, which suggest that, there is more to being
Intelligent than simply being proficient in languages or being good in
math. Each of the human being is best in one of types of Intelligence
(Multiple Intelligence).

Types of Intelligence:
1_Linguistic/Verbal Intelligence: It’s the ability to use words
effectively when writing or speaking. It is when someone uses the
language appropriately and effectively (Four skills).
Professional profile: Poets, Writers, Religious or Political leaders.
2_Logic/ Mathematical Intelligence: It’s the ability to make
quickly numerical calculations, and use the scientific method. It is
when someone thinks abstractly (Solve abstract problems).
Professional profile: Scientist, Mathematician, Economist, Engineer...
3_Visual/ Spatial Intelligence: It’s the ability to present ideas
visually, create mental images, draw and make sketches (Artistic
Activities).
Professional profile: scenarist, Artist, photographer, Designer...

4_Musical/ Rhythmic Intelligence: It’s the ability to listen, sing,


play instruments as well as analyse sounds in general.
Professional profile: Singer, composer, musical critics...
5_Bodily/ Kinesthetic Intelligence: It’s the ability to do activities
that require strength, speed, flexibility, and balance (Manual
activities).
Professional profile: Dancer, Actor, Modal, Sportsman…
6_Intrapersonal Intelligence: It’s the ability to set goals, evaluate
skills and personal disadvantages and control own thinking (Self-
esteem).
Professional profile: Own work, own business.
7_Interpersonal Intelligence: It’s the ability to work with people,
help them, and overcome problems (Cooperative person).
Professional profile: Psychologist, Teacher...
8_Emotional Intelligence: It’s the ability to control (manage) self
emotions; also, thought to be the ability to convey emotions to others
in an understandable way as well as to read the emotions of others
accurately.
