SOCIAL INTERACTIO
Social interaction of even the simplest sort is a far more socially intricate operation than we
generally recognize. It is rife with unacknowledged rituals, tacit understandings, covert symbolic
exchanges, impression management techniques, calculated strategic maneuverings, proxemics
(intimate (0 to 18 inches), personal (18 inches to 4 feet), social (4 to 10 feet), and public (over 10
feet), and kinesics (body movements and gestures regarded as a form of non-verbal
communication).
