SOCIAL INTERACTIO

Social interaction of even the simplest sort is a far more socially intricate operation than we
generally recognize. It is rife with unacknowledged rituals, tacit understandings, covert symbolic
exchanges, impression management techniques, calculated strategic maneuverings, proxemics
(intimate (0 to 18 inches), personal (18 inches to 4 feet), social (4 to 10 feet), and public (over 10
feet), and kinesics (body movements and gestures regarded as a form of non-verbal
communication).

Stress Management in Social

Interactions
• Preparedness: Be prepared to deal with the topics that give you stress and if not, try to avoid them for the time being.
• Control your reaction: Try to control your reaction on something that ignites your emotions. Maybe after sometime your reaction to that
situation Amy not be the same.
• Stay in touch: Answering phone calls, returning emails and reciprocating invitations let people know you care.
• Don't compete: Be happy instead of jealous when your friends succeed.
• Be a good listener: Listen when your friends are speaking. Find out what's important to them.
• Don't overdo it: Be careful not to overwhelm friends and family with phone calls and emails. Save those high-demand times for when
you really need them.
• Appreciate your friends and family: Take time to say thank you and express how important they are to you.
• Give back: Be available for family and friends when they need support.
