Immigration causes significant impacts on the society. By the day, more people move from their home
countries to another county in order to settle as permanent residents or naturalized citizens. This writing
will examine the main reasons behind immigration and the consequences it can lead to.

In my view, people leave their country because they do not feel safe back home. This unsafe condition
may be caused by wars, disasters, or geopolitical climates in their respective homelands. For example, in
the midst of the Syrian war, thousands of Syrians fled as refuges to the neighboring countries like Egypt,
Turkey, and Sudan. Another example, because the oppression from the Myanmar government, the
Muslim minority ethnic of Rohingya had to sail across the ocean on a traditional boat with limited food
and supply to Malaysia and Indonesia. By the same token, other immigrants move to a more developed
country in search of a better career and a better future for their children. USA is one of the most
prominent example in this case. Many people from different backgrounds come to the US each year so
as to achieve 'the American dream'.

Nonetheless, sometimes immigration results in negative consequences for both the immigrants and
their destination countries. these immigrants often come with insufficient preparation in skills and
languages, which in return makes it hard for them to find suitable jobs. As for the refuges of wars and
disasters, sometimes they do not receive proper asylum, food and medical care. In fact, if the country of
destination does not have the necessary resources in dealing with the increasing number of inhabitants,
other shortages and scarcities may come into fruition due to overpopulation.

To summarize, life after immigration may not match the immigrants' expectation. Therefore, it is of the
utmost importance to consider all the possible outcomes before deciding whether leaving one's home
country is worth the risk.
