SUBJECT: MENTAL HARASSMENT OF FINAL YEAR STUDENTS OF UNIVERSITY OF DELHI

Respected Sir,

We the students of Department of Commerce, M. Com, University of Delhi wants to draw

your attention to the continuous mental torture of the base (i.e. students) of the educational institute by
conducting examination amidst the pandemic. Despite raising thousands of voices against the open
book examination by the students and the teacher the university has chosen to ignore the key elements
of its institute (i.e. students). Amidst this pandemic the students are suffering from the psychological
and emotional trauma as some are already covid positive and others are living the fear of getting
infected. while some households have lost their near and dear ones, so they are handling the dual attack
of pandemic and exams approaching with lack of resources to take exams. The decision to conduct Open
Book Examination(OBE) in these adverse scenario has led to increased anxiety level for the students and
the parents to make further arrangements for the examination .With the exponential increase in the
covid cases in the country ,conduction of examination by the university is ignorance of the future of
several students and the mental health which is of utmost importance for the young generation .

We request you to instruct the University of Delhi to scrap its scheduled Open book examination
immediately and to promote them immediately,

The valid reasons for the request of cancellation are as follows:

1) INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRAINT ON THE PART OF UNIVERSITY

University of Delhi always claim itself to be well equipped in infrastructure but the reality is very
foggy. its website crashed thrice very recently
 When post graduate admit cards were released
 When the OBE for linguistic courses were conducted
 When School of Open Learning admit cards were released
Taking in view the above scenario students might face the same issue when they are
taking up their exams which may demotivate students to take up further examination
Apart from this the online teaching conducted by university was inefficient which make
students more worrisome. The students have not been taught up to the standards to
attempt the open book examination which make them more prone to the failure.

2) INFRASTRUCTURE CONSTRAINT ON THE PART OF STUDENTS

University has assumed that all the students have proper study material and proper technology
to take up examination but reality on the ground level is different. Many of the students don’t
own even a single smartphone which is keeping them away not only from online education but
also taking up final year examination and conduction of pen paper exam is beyond reality in this
scenario and the final year students can’t be kept in dilemma of taking up exams later though
option can be provided of it .
3) Examination without Vigil
Conducting Examination without vigilance nullify the very purpose of examination and that’s
what is happening at the University currently through OBE

4) Discriminatory Policy of University

University is following discriminatory policy by conducting the online open book examination of
just the Final year students. University has come up with the policy of promoting its
intermediate
Year students without conducting Examination, which is really unfair towards the final year
students as they are also going through the same scenario as the intermediate students are
going through.

5) Dual attack of nature on “North eastern states”

Currently the time is really bad for the north east students as they are facing the dual attack of
nature (i.e. floods and pandemic). Making arrangements for examination is really tough for
these students. During this worst scenario of nature many are losing their home and dear ones
which make these students more vulnerable

6) Mental Health of students is deteriorating

Amidst this pandemic, the university has come up with the postponement of exams 10 days
further which means playing with the emotions and health of students for 10 more days.
These constant changes in the exam schedule has resulted in the mental and emotional
trauma for students and delay of examination further show the unpreparedness for carrying
out online process of the exams and this postponement comes after a complete failure of the
Mock Test which were to be organized by the before the exam process .In case the University
falls short of its preparedness again then they may further postpone the exam creating more
mental pressure amongst students .Student can’t tolerate the pressure imposed by the
university any more .

We hope that you will understand the pain of over 4 lakh students whose well being and lives
are at stake.

We look forward to your immediate intervention to ensure that students of University of Delhi get relief
that has been given by many states of the country. We also request for the necessary action against the
concerned authorities who are messing up with the lives of future of the country

Yours sincerely
