Sizing up the Sun How large is the Sun? it is much larger than Earth. The diameter, or the distance across the middle, is 1384 kilometers. That's 109 times longer than the Earth’s diameter. The Sun is about the size of one million Earths all piled together. The Comparison Test . Cut out a one centimeter piece of yarn. You will glue it in your interactive notebook. 2. Cut out the “Earth's Diameter” card and glue it beside the smail piece of yam. 3. Unroll a long piece of yam across the floor and measure 109 centimeters. Cut it and place it in your interactive notebook. You will need to place some of the yarn into the pocket provided below. 4. Cut out the “Sun's Diameter” card and glue it beside the long piece of yam. Cut pocket out. Fold back flap up and wrap side flaps around the back and glue down.
