Assessment Suggestions
1m Conference with the students individually.
Cut cut pictures of the eight phases of the
moon (from a photocopy of 4.9.2). Have
the students name the phases and put
them in order. Use the individual student
observations sheet on page 13 to record
resutts,
Have the students write a brief paragraph
to explain why the moon “seems to change
shape” when we view it from Earth,
Encourage them to use pictures to clarify
their explanation. Review the paragraphs to
‘see if the students can accurately describe
the moon phases in their own words.
Record results on the anecdotal record
sheet on page 12.
