Answer the following questions based on the case titled “PepsiCo and Madonna” by John
A. Quelch, N. Craig Smith, Aimee L. Stern:

Q1. (i) Draw a time line showing the sequence of events discussed in the case.
(ii) Did Madonna act ethically towards Pepsi in this case?
(iii) At times, special interest groups exert excessive influence on the content of advertising.
Give some recent examples where large advertisers were forced to withdraw their advertisement.

this controversy? Why or why not? Explain your thought process in evaluating the ethical
dilemma and making a decision. (15 Marks)

Q3. You are a scholar of Indian Ethos. You are known for your acumen in applying principles of
Indian Ethos in business management. You have been hired by PepsiCo as Chief Ethics Officer.
Based on your knowledge of Indian Ethos (only), can you help them in restructuring their
business strategy and business priorities? (You need not restrict yourself only to the crisis
mentioned in the case) (10 Marks)
