FCS Varsity Brain Bowl Team - 2011 Division A Champions

Today, April 1 through Fri, April 8, High School will be on Activity Bell Schedule.
Events are as follows:
Fri, April 1: Assembly Mon, April 4: Volleyball Game Wed, April 6: Scavenger Hunt
Thurs, April 7: Build a Float Fri, April 8: “In It to Win It”
JUNIORs & SENIORs: Prom meeting Mon, April 4th, during breakfast to go over “rules and expectations”
Anyone planning to go to prom MUST attend.
**SCIENCE PROJECT BACK BOARDS: Now on sale - $6.00. See Ms. Buffkin or Ms. Sawyer to purchase.
M/S Science Projects due May 4.
ACADEMIC INFORMATION
**GCCC Dual Enrollment-Summer & Fall: Registration for the summer & fall terms will be April 11-May 6.
The dual enrollment office will be open until 6:00pm from April 11- April 14 (after these dates, regular office hours
Resume, 8:00am-4:00pm).
**Certified Nursing Assistant Program: Students interested in program need to apply NOW!!! April 29 is the
end date. Contact Pat Wagner, GFC Nursing Secretary @ 227-9670 EXT. 5522. The earlier you apply the better.
**SCHOLARSHIPS: Seniors, scholarships are coming in! Important Tips: 1) Encourage your parents to file their
Income Tax Return as soon as possible (Pell grant & some scholarships require a copy). 2) Prepare- Essays, letter
of Reference, resumes.
-“Will to Win” Scholarship: For students with asthma. See Ms. McGrath in Guidance
-Philaco Women’s Club Scholarship: Due by April 15. Faculty /administration must nominate student.
Applications in Guidance.
-Friend of the Reserve Scholarship: Due by April 15. Applications in Mrs. Duhart’s & Guidance
-Forgotten Coast Builders Assoc. $1,000 Scholarship: Must be postmarked May 6. Preference given to
student majoring in a construction related field, but is not required. Applications in Mrs. Duhart’s & Guidance
-JCI Senators Scholarship: Due by May 8. Applications in Mrs. Duhart’s & Guidance
-Apalachicola Bay Rotary Scholarship: Due by May 15. Applications in Mrs. Duhart’s & Guidance
**PARENTS – register to receive automated emergency calls from the Franklin County Sheriff Dept. You will
be notified of any emergency situations in Franklin County (for example; emergency school closings,
road closings). Go to www.franklinsheriff.com , on the top right of home page- click on “Franklin
County Florida Emergency Notification System” & complete required information.

**TEACHERS: The “Parent/Teacher Conference” forms for use on Tues, April 5, are on Ms. Browning’s desk.
White copy (original) to Oehlert, yellow copy to teacher, pink copy to parent.
**CULINARY CLASS CAFÉ: Fri, April 1 - Serving from 10:45am-1:30pm. Donation- $8.00
MENU: Pork Chop Casserole, Fried Cube Steak, Creamed Corn, String Beans,
Macaroni & Cheese, Yeast Rolls
DESSERTS: Peach Cobbler w/ Ice Cream, Pound Cake
**Teacher Recertification: Tues, April 5, Jeanette Malone will be on campus to help with recertification.
**School Leadership Meeting: Wed, April 6, in room 117 @ 3:20pm
**Reading Endorsement Competencies 4/5 Classes: April 6.
Classes will be at Learning Center, room 19, from 3:00-7:00pm. Sign up on ePDC for the course.
**RTI MEETINGS: Every Tuesday **PBS MEETINGS: Every 3rd Monday of each month
**FACULTY MEETINGS: Every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of each month
Miscellaneous
**Project Graduation Meeting: Monday, April 4, in the FCS library from 6:00pm -7:00pm.
**FCS Graduation Caps & Gowns Needed: Last year & again this year, we have had seniors who have not
been able to purchase a cap & gown due to family finances. If anyone has a cap & gown which was used for graduation at
Franklin County School, please consider donating them to the school. Students, who can not purchase the items, can borrow
them at no cost except to have them cleaned & returned. We need at least five. Don’t worry, if it’s not clean, Mrs. Croom will
have them cleaned. Thus, the SENIOR SEAHAWK CLOSET will be established. Contact Dolores Hayward-Croom at 670-2800.
**DOE Social Media Access: The Florida Department of Education now has the resources to provide additional
channels for the department to receive feedback from & communicate with educators, students, parents, & all Floridians.

**GED CLASSES on Mondays, Tuesdays, & Thursdays (except holidays) from 4:00pm-8:00pm at the
Franklin County Learning Center (the old Brown Elementary).
The next GED Test will be given May 2 & 3 at the Franklin County School library at 6:00pm.
To register for the test contact Linda Bradley during GED classes or Maxine Creamer @ 670-4481.
