1. Are there any hobbies you would like to try? (Why?/Why not?)
à Yes. I really want to try learning to play the piano, because I love the melody of piano and
it can make me feel relaxed after a hard working day, although I find it quite difficult to learn.
2. Did you ever get a gift that you didn’t like? (Why)
à I did. I got a book about Chemistry. My brother bought it for me. But I am not interested in
learning Chemistry. I think it’s quite boring for me to learn although I still felt happy when I
got the book.
3. Did you use to play any sport when you were at high school? (Why?)
à I used to play badminton. It think it is such a fun and exciting sport to play with friends. I
bought some rackets, some balls to play it at the school yard. I wanted to take part in a
badminton competition but I need to focus more on studying.
4. Do you enjoy taking part in competitions? (Why?/Why not?)

à I do. I love joining sport competitions because they help me reduce stress and improve my
fitness. I used to join a tennis championship and got the second prize. It was such a wonderful
experience for me.
5. Do you like buying gifts for other people? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yeah, I do. I buy presents for my friends or my family members on their birthday. I love
giving them lots of different presents like books or clothes. Some of the presents are
expensive, some are cheap but they are not a big problem for me.
6. Do you like computer games? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yeah. Playing computer games is always my favourite. Computer games makes me feel
relaxed after a hard working day at school. It’s always fun and exciting to play games with
your friends or with your family. I usually play action games and horror games on my laptop.

7. Do you like your house? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes. I love my house so much, especially my bedroom. It has a nice bed with two pillows, a
mirror, a desk, and lamp and some posters on the wall. It is such a cute room. Nothing is
better than coming home.
8. Do you often celebrate things with your friends? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes, I do, when we pass an exam. We sometimes have a party at a restaurant, or
sometimes have a picnic in the countryside. Or we go travelling or go shopping together as
well. It’s always fantastic to have some celebrations.
9. Do you often spend your birthday with your family or your friends? (Why?)
à I often spend my birthday with my friends. I think it is more comfortable, more fun, and
there are more interesting activites we can go together like singing or dancing together.
10. Do you often travel long distances by bus? (Why?/Why not?)

à No, I don’t. I always feel sick or tired if I travel by bus on a long journey. I prefer travelling
by train or by plane. Travelling by plane is more expensive but faster and safer. I just take the
bus to go around the city centre.
11. Do you prefer going shopping alone or with other people? (Why?)
à I prefer going shopping with other people, like my sister or my close friends. It’s less
boring, and we can help each other try clothes at the clothes shop and give each other some
advice on what to buy and what not to buy.
12. Do you spend a lot of money on your hobby? (Why?)

à I do. I love listening to Kpop music. I spent lots of my money buying CDs, songs, and
posters because Kpop music is really good to listen to and Korean music groups are really
handsome. If I have more money, I want to go to Korean to see a live concert.

13. Do you think the school holidays are long enough? (Why?/Why not?)
à I think it’s enough. I want to graduate early. And you know, we already have a lot of
holidays because of corona viruses, so no need to have more. I feel bored of staying at home
and studying online.
14. Do you think you have a lot of free time after school? (Why?/Why not?)
à No I don’t because I have to revise my lessons after school as well. I don’t want to fail the
exams. If I have more free time, I really want to go jogging or play sports with my friends. But
studying is more important. I want to graduate early.
15. Have you ever been given a free gift? (Did you like it?)
à Yes. I really love it. It’s a teddy bear. I got it because I bought enough goods to have one at
a shopping centre. They had a special offer. If you buy more than four hundred thousand
dong, you would get a teddy bear.
16. Have you ever taken part in a sports competition? (Why?/Why not?)
à I have. I took part in a tennis competition. I won the first prize. I felt so fantastic when I got
the champion cup. I even had a big party to celebrate it. If I have a chance, I want to take part
in another competition, too.
17. How do you use technology for learning English? (Why?)

à I use online dictionaries to search for new words, and use my smartphoen to watch videos
on Youtube. They are really useful and help me learn English better than just learning from
coursebooks.
18. How does technology help us in our everyday lives? (Why?)

à Thanks to technology, it’s easier to talk to other people by video call, and you can relax
yourself by watching videos or play games online. We can also learn useful things on the
Internet by just using computers or smartphones.

19. How important is music to you? (Why?)

à For me, it’s really important. It helps me reduce stress after a hard working day. It helps
me focus more when I try to study or revise my lessons before an exam. I also listen to music
when I work out as well.
20. How often do you go shopping? (Why?)

à I usually go shopping at the weekend, I usually go shopping at the shopping mall near my
house because they have lots of special offers on Saturday or Sunday. So there are many
things which are less expensive for me to buy like clothes or food.
21. How often do you hang out with your friends? (Why?)
à I hang out with my friends just once a week because I am a medical student. I don’t have
much free time. I need to focus more on studying and revise the lessons before an exams. It’s
more important for me.
22. Is it a good idea to buy expensive gifts? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes, I think so. When people invite you to a big birthday party or a big celebration, if you
want to give them a present, you need to buy an expensive present. Or if they like something
so much, an expensive present is not a problem.
23. Is it a good idea to buy things online? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes, I think so. When you go shopping online, everything is cheaper, and there are more
things to choose. But you need to be careful when you buy something expensive. Many stuff
on the internet are expensive but not good enough to use.
24. Is it better to watch sports competitions or take part in them? (Why?)

à Some people love watching competitions because they are keen on sports but can’t play
sports well. But if you are fit enough, I think it’s more exciting to take part in some
competitions rather than just watching.

25. Is it difficult for you to spend time waiting? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yeah I think so. I don’t like waiting for other people. I don’t feel comfortable when I have
to wait for someone. But you sometimes have to wait in your everyday life. You can’t avoid it.
26. Is it easy to choose gifts for other people? (Why?/Why not?)

à I think it depends. Some people are really easy-going and some are people are difficult.
You need to know about their interests, their hobbies to choose the right gifts. But I think you
can just ask them if they liked something.
27. Is it important for everyone to do sport? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes. For me everybody should do sport because it’s necessary, it’s good for our health. It
helps us reduce stress after a hard workind day and helps us improve our strength and fitness
as well. Both old and young people should work out, go cycling, running or go swimming.
28. Is it important to have a birthday party? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yeah. I think it’s important because it’s a day that you were born, It’s such a special day to
celebrate. You don’t need a big birthday party to celebrate, just a small one is enough, with
your family members and some close friends.
29. Is it important to have a hobby? (Why?)

à Yeah. I think so. Having a hobby helps you reduce the stress after a hard working day and
helps you make more friends, or even helps you develop new skills as well. Some people
lovesplaying video games and became a famous game streamer.
30. Is it important to live near your friends? (Why?/Why not?)

à Yes. I think so. It’s easier to visit each other, to go to school together or go shopping
together. When you live far from you friends, it takes time to go their place and it’s more
difficult to go to your friends’ house when it rains or snows.

31. Is it necessary to buy birthday presents? (Why?/ Why not?)

à Yes. I think so because birthday is such a special day for everyone, so it’s great to buy a
present to celebrate people on their birthday. You don’t need to buy expensive presents, just
something special or useful.
32. What changes would you like to make to your house? (Why)
à I want my house to be bigger. I want to have another floor. I also want my bedroom to
have more stuff like a new television, a new computer, a new curtain, but I need to have
enough money first.
33. What do you like best about your city? (Why?)

à My city is best at food. All special foods in my city are really delicious. People are also the
best thing. Everyone is really friendly. And there are many beautiful sceneries to go
sightseeing as well.
34. What do you often do in breaks between lessons? (Why?)

à I just want to have some coffee, listen to a song on my phone or use Facebook to see some
news on the internet. They can help me reduce the stress and help me focus more on the next
lessons.
35. What do you often do while you’re on a bus or a train? (Why?)

à I often read books, I sometimes listen to music or play games. It helps me feel relaxed and
comfortable on the trip. But I also love seeing the beautiful sceneries outside the window
when I go on a train as well.
36. What do you think makes a good holiday? (Why?)

à A good holiday should be a holiday with your close friends or your family with some fun
activities like visiting interesting places, going swimming and trying special foods as well. And
I think it’s also important to have someone who can help you take beautiful photos.

37. What do you usually do on your birthday? (Why?)

à I usually have a small birthday party at home or at a restaurant because I don’t want to
spend too much money on my birthday. I just invite some of my closest friends and my family.
38. What hobby did you use to have? (Why?)

à I used to play video games a lot. But now I don’t have much free time so I have to stop
playing too much. I need to focuse more on studying and revise the lessons before the exam. I
think it’s more important.
39. What is your favourite piece of technology? (Why?)

à I love using an application called Shoppee. It’s an online shopping application. I love it
because it has a lot of special offers, many interesting games to play as well. I bought a lot of
things from shoppe and spent a lot of money on it.
40. What kinds of gifts do you like to get? (Why?)

à I love getting a book, or some clothes because when I read that book or wear that shirt or
that pair of trousers, I would remember the person who gave me the present. It doesn’t have
to be an expensive presents.
41. What presents did you get on your last birthday? (Do you like it / them?)
à I got a laptop. My brother bought it for me. I love it so much. There are many things I can
do with it such as learning English, watching films, or playing online games. It’s such a
fantastic present.
42. What type of accommodation did you stay in during your last holiday? (Why?)
à I stayed in a hostel on my last holiday in Da Nang because it’s cheaper than staying in a
hotel or a resort. You know, I am just a student and don’t have much money. My room is
great, with cool bathroom, and a nice bed.

43. What was the best gift that you have been given? (Why?)
à I got a laptop. My brother bought it for me. I love it so much. There are many things I can
do with it such as learning English, watching films, or playing online games. It’s such a
fantastic present.
44. What’s the best thing about being at school? (Why?)

à I think the best thing is that you can make friends with other students and teachers at
school. I guess it’s difficult to make more good friends when you leave school and go to work.
45. What’s the first thing you do when you get to school? (Why)
à The first thing I want to do is to ask my close friends about what they did yesterday, is
there anything new, or is there something special to do today.
46. What’s your favourite type of transportation? (Why?)

à I love travelling by train because it’s quite cheap and you can see the beautiful sceneries
outside the window of the train. It’s also safe and convenient if you are going on a long
journey.
47. What’s your favourite hobby? (Why?)

à I love playing video games. Playing video games helps me reduce stress after a hard
working day. It also helps me make more friends online and develop some skills for me
although now I don’t have much time to play. I need to spend more time studying.
48. When you look for a job, what is the most important thing? (Why?)
à When I find a job, I think the most important thing is that the job can help me get as a lot
of experiences as possible. If I have more experiences, I can develop my skills, become more
professional and have better life.

49. Where would you like to live in the future? (Why?)

à I want to live in a big city like Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City because there are more
opportunities to get a good job. You can learn more things from new people. And you can
become more active when you live in a busy city.
50. Would you like to do something useful while you’re waiting? (Why?)
à Yes, I think it’s useful for me to use my smartphone to learn some English. I can learn or
revise some new words or grammar while I’m waiting for someone or something. Besides,
I would not feel uncomfortable to wait for a long time.

SPEAKING PART 3
Question 1
Option "Playing the guitar":
+ A: I think he should start to learn playing the guitar as a new hobby if he loves music and it's
really interesting.
+ B: Guitar sounds fun but it is quite expensive for him to buy. I think it is not a good idea.
Option "Running":
+ A: How about running with friends in the park every morning? It is a healthy activity.

+ B: Oh! That's great. Running is so exciting. Although it is really hard to get up early, doing
exercises in the morning is necessary.
Option "Going fishing"
+ A: What do you think about going fishing? I think it's quite boring.
+ B: Oh yeah! I agree with you. That activity seems uninteresting. He may not love that.
Option "Climbing" & "Football"
+ A: Climbing and playing football look really dangerous. I think they are not the best choice for
him. He might hurt himself while doing those activities.
+ B: Well! I think so, too. Injury is so terrible; He cannot do anything else if he gets injured.
Option "Playing chess" & "Drawing"
+ A: I think Drawing and Playing chess are amazing, too. He can have good chances to make
friends. What do you think?
+ B: Wow, It's quite wonderful. But I am afraid that these activities can take time if he is now
really busy in preparing his schoolwork.
=> So I think he should choose .....

Option "Chess" and "Word puzzle"
+ A: Do you think Playing chess and Word puzzle are suitable for their bus trip. In my opinion,
they are really too big for the small bag and it is not convenient them to carry along.
+ B: Yes, I think it's true. They are so boring, too.
Option "Toy (binoculars): ống nhòm"
+ A: What do you think if they bring binoculars as a toy to go sightseeing during their trip.
+ B: Playing with toys is quite dull, I think because they will not want to do sightseeing all the
time and they can't talk to each other.

Option "headphone" & "books"
+ A: In my opinion, Books and headphone are not the best choices for the brother and his sister.
The reason is that they wil have a silent atmosphere on the bus and for a long time trip they are
not interesting.
+ B: Oh I think the same. If they focus too much on reading books or listening to music. Their trip
can not be memorable anymore.
Option "Food and Drink"
+ A: How about bringing some sandwiches and some soft drinks? I think they shouldn't bring too
much food because they can buy lots of thing at the cafe near the bus station.
+ B: Yes I agree with you. Having snacks is not the best activity they can do the whole time they're
on the bus.
Option "Camera"
A: So I think the best thing they can bring is a camera because It is small enough to carry in a bag
and they can have plenty of amazing pictures to create great memory.
B: This idea is wonderful! They can keep chatting while taking pictures. It's gonna be fun!

Question 3
A: Shall I start?
I think they should give customers a teddy bear or a sticker.
They are so lovely and interesting.
Customers can decorate their bedroom with the teddy bear and their T-shirt with the sticker.
What do you think?
B: Well, I don’t think that is a good idea because what if only girls are interested in teddy
bears and stickers.
In my opinion, they should give a sport bag or a hand bag.

It is much useful and convenient. They can use them when they hang out or have a holiday.
Do you think so?
A: Ya, it is a good idea, and the price may be not really reasonable.
What about a book?
It can help them get more knowledge and more information about video games.
B: No, I don’t think it is great idea because it is too boring.
I think they should give them some chocolate and a board game because they can eat
chocolate when they play board games.
It is so exciting and fantastic. Do you think so?
A: Well, I am not sure about it because some people may not like chocolate.
Let’s decide what’s best?
B: I think they should give them a handbag
A: Ok I totally agree with you.

Question 4
A: OK – so what do you think about riding bikes to the mountains after that. They can
enjoy fresh air and it is really good for her health.
B: Hmm, not a good idea. I guess they would be tired after the race; I think they will not
have enough energy for the bike trip. And playing tennis can also make her tired.
What about going shopping?
A: they may like that, but the cost of the stuffs could be quite high and What if they
cannot afford it. How about going to a cinema?

B: Good point. However, I think a theater is not suitable for a celebration. What if there
aren’t any movies in the cinema that she likes? I like the idea of watching sports on
TV. What do you think?
A: It may not be a good choice. Everyone will just sit on the sofa and watch TV. That’s
not interesting at all. How about going to a restaurant?
B: Well, going to a restaurant is too expensive for us. I think playing video games at her
home will be better.
A: Yes, you’re probably right. So the last choice is playing games at her home. They can
play lots of interesting games and totally enjoy the time in there.
B: That’s a great idea. I think they will like it. It’s the best idea among the others. Shall
we choose that one?
A: Yes, I agree.

+ A: I think her friends should buy a new clock because it’s very useful for her to check the
time when she is at home.
+B: Oh, but she could have her own watch, I don’t think she will need the clock.

+A: Her friends can buy a chocolate box as a gift for her. She really loves sweet things.
+B: Yeah, It’s a great choice, she can eat it when she stays in the new room.

+B: But her parents and grandparents are not keen on her kind of movie and concert. It’s not

+A: Enjoying a good meal is such a great choice for her and all other members. Everyone can
eat and chat together in a luxury room at a restaurant.
+B: But It’s too expensive for her family to spend.

+A: Sailing may be a great activities for her family to enjoy. Everyone in her house might
know how to sail.
+B: Yeah, It’s a great option. She is properly very good at sailing and maybe she might love to

A: How about playing a football match? It’ll be fun and good for their health.

stand and do nothing.

A: Vistting a museum is fantastic, they can learn a lot of things about The kings in the past
and others.
B: Well, I don’t think so because I think they should play something fun instead of learning.

A: I don’t think this is a good idea because it’s nothing fun when they sit and hear the same
words.
B: Yeah, I agree with you. It’s too formal for the students to enjoy their last day of the school
year.
Option: “Opening a Talent show”:
A: Taking part in a talent show is wonderful, the students can show their special talent to
others. People can enjoy the melody of the piano in the music performance.
B: Yes, it’s a good chance for them to improve their talent and inspire other student.
Option: “Going dancing”:
A: Wow, this is a great idea, all the students can have fun for their last day of the school year.
B: Yes and dancing is a good way to decrease their stress.

A: I think the book about a pilot is a good idea for him because it’s cool when he can learn

B: Yeah! and the young man can also read the pilot’s story about the places that he came.

A: The teacher book is really good for him because he can learn so many skills, such as: giving
a speech, controling the emotion,..
B: Yeah, and not so many books are written about the teacher so this will be fantastic for him
to find out and read a good book about the teacher.
Option “The Chief book”:
A: The book about the chief is wonderful because he can learn the cooking recipes.
B: I agree, he can also read about the story behind the chief’s dishes.
Option “The Astronaut book”:
A: I think he should choose the astronaut book to read because he can find out insteresting
things about the space, like: planets, sky,…
B: Well, I don’t think it’s necessary for him to find a book about the astronaut because there
are so many information online about it.
Option “The Football player book”:
A: It’ll be so useful when he can read a book about the famous football player, he can learn
lots of things, for example: how to improve their health, how to accheive the goals,…
B: Yes, he can also know more about the famous matches too.
Option “The Musician book”:
A: The book written about the musician is good for him because he can learn how to play a
new music instrument and how to write a new song, i think.
B: Agree and maybe it’ll inspire him about music- one kind of art.

Question 9

- Mug:
A: The cup is really useful. I guess she is a coffee lover so she can drink coffee every
day with that cup.
B: But I don’t think it’s easy to bring that cup abroad as it may break during her flight.
- Umbrella:
A: I don’t think I should choose an umbrella because it doesn’t rain too much in cold
countries.
B: Yes, I agree with you.
- Boots:
A: A pair of boots is suitable. She can keep warm during cold winter.
B: I can’t agree with you more. Boots are a necessary in cold countries when she
wants to go out.
- Photo frame:
A: Why don’t we give her a picture with her and her friends? It’s a good way to remind
her of their memory.
B: No. I don’t think it’s a good idea. It’s not helpful when she lives in a cold country.
- Hat, gloves and scarf:
A: Hat, gloves and scarf are really necessary. She can keep warm whenever going out,
so she won’t get cold.

A: Sunglasses are fashionable, but I don’t think she needs them. Because it might be
cold when she gets there.

A: A pen can be very practical for her study.
B: I agree, but she can buy pens in that country. So I don’t think we should buy a pen.

In my opinion, they should give them a bunch of flowers or a book because they are
meaningful gifts.
She can use flowers to decorate in her living room and read the book in her free time.

How about a picture with all members in the classes?
It is beautiful and lovely. She can hang it on the wall in the living room.
A: It is an amazing idea. Whenever she sees it, she can remember the class.
