1. Differentiate Authentic from Traditional Assessment. Give 3 differences through a classroom application.

Traditional assessment follows selecting a response from learners whereas authentic assessment engages
learners to perform a task on the basis of the item they are informed. Traditional assessment is contrived but
authentic is in real-life. Authentic assessment serves as an alternative to conventional assessment.

TRADITIONAL ASSESSMENT AUTHENTIC ASSESSMENT

1. Body of knowledge is determined first 1. Task are determine first
2. Design the curriculum 2. Students perform to demonstrate their mastery
3. Assess to determine if the acquisition of curriculumis 3 design the curriculum
occurred

2. Create an example of a performance task in your course that will showcase authenticity.

If I were teaching you and I said that you wrote an essay about the life and works of Rizal, I would not determine
whether you had met my standards by giving you a test on how I would put you out on the golf course to
"construct your own responses" in the face of real-world challenges. Similarly, in school we are ultimately less
interested in how much information students can acquire than how well they can use it. Thus, our most
meaningful assessments ask students to perform authentic tasks.
