Question 4

a) The acceleration of a moving body at the end of 𝒕 seconds from the


commencement of motion is 𝟐𝒕𝟑 − 𝟑𝒕𝟐 + 𝟓 metres per second.

i) Find the velocity at the end of 4 seconds if the initial velocity is 5 metres per 3
second.

ii) Find the distance travelled by the body at the end of 10 seconds. 3

b) Manisha and Jo are both students at the same college. They can be either late or
on time. The probability that Manisha will be late for college on one particular
morning is 0.1 The probability that Jo will be late for college on one particular
morning is 0.3

i) Draw a probability tree diagram to show all the possible outcomes. 8

ii) Use your tree diagram to find out the probability that one person will be late. 2

iii) Use your tree diagram to find the probability of there being at least one 2
person late.
