BASIC MATHS OPERATIONS (ADDING/SUBTRACTING/MULTIPLYING)

MONEY, CURRENCY EQUIVALENCE

Objective: from the development of this workshop, you will be able to talk about currencies and
do some math operations in English.

1. Work in groups and discuss the following statements:


- What do you know about the basic Math operations? Mention them, which one is your favorite?

the basic math operations are addition, subtraction, multiplication and division and my favorite is
multiplication

- When is it common to use Math? Give some examples.

1. handling money any time when buying, pay something we must use mathematics
2. doing accounts to know how much I can and cannot spend on an outing
3. preparing a recipe, in a recipe we always use mathematics either to know how much to
buy, how much to add among other things

- Which basic Math operation is difficult to you?

2. Find the definition or the symbols for the following words:

1. Addition: the arithmetic operation that consists of adding quantities to obtain a result.
2. Multiplication: Multiplication is a mathematical operation that consists of adding a number
as many times as indicated by the other number that makes up the operation
3. Math symbols: represent operations and relationships between values. Symbols are
pictures that represent something. In general, symbols are known within the context
where they are found. In mathematics, symbols often represent operations or
relationships between numbers or values.
