can be applied in leadership? Also discuss in detail the personality traits you possess.
(300 words Max., 5 marks)

Ans: Personality is both influenced by nature and nurture. It is a psychological construct and at
the same time, it is affected by genetics and the environment. Personality describes the qualities
and features that shape a person's character and it also impacts how an individual behaves in
certain situations. I agree with the idea that both biological and environmental are factors or how
the personality of an individual is constructed. It might run in the blood or hereditary. For
example, a person is fond of arts and creative or imaginative because he/she was born in a family
of artists. Also, a person might have a specific personality because of his/her upbringing or
depending on what kind of environment he/she was reared in. For example, a person is always
pessimistic and anxious because of the childhood trauma he/she experienced or because of the
chaotic environment he/she was raised in.

The OCEAN is an acronym for the Big Five Personality Traits. It answers the question "Who are
you?". It was a framework developed in 1993 by an American psychologist Lewis Goldberg. It is
short for Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism. Openness
describes creativity level and intellect. Conscientiousness involves thoughtfulness, goal-driven
behaviors, and competence. Extraversion includes social skills and emotional expressiveness.
Agreeableness is characterized by how well a person gets on with others, and neuroticism refers
to emotional instability.

The OCEAN model will guide leaders in understanding the personality of the members of the
team. It gives them an idea as to the factors why a person behaves in a specific way. Also, it
teaches the leaders of a better approach on how to deal with the members and knowing what
motivates or discourages them at work.

I am the kind of person who is always open to new ideas. I like exploring and learning new
things. I am also disciplined and I want to finish important tasks on time to avoid any delays. I
often write my to-do-list to make sure I don't forget the necessary things I have to accomplish. I
am also an outgoing type. I enjoy meeting new people and hanging out with my friends. I keep
work and life balance. As I grow up, I observed how my parents help others. I think that also
made me an empathetic person. I love participating in community outreach and helping others in
need especially the unprivileged. I don't like to belittle other people because I know they thrive
and always do their best every day. Despite the warm environment, I am surrounded with; I can't
deny the fact that I easily get stressed. I tend to worry about things but I always do everything to
resolve them.
