HSE Guideline – UPS Operation

1. PURPOSE: To establish the operation control procedure for U.P.S room.

2. SCOPE: Across the facility

3. RESPONSIBILITY: Maintenance

4. INSTRUCTIONS / PROCEDURE:

 Effective Training on Handling and managing UPS operation should be given to all the
staff members.
 Entry inside the UPS room should be restricted only to authorized personnel.
 All Safety and hazard signages should be displayed appropriately.
 Appropriate PPE, such as footwear, eyewear, masks and gloves, should be worn at
Work.
 Periodical maintenance activity should be carried out and records to be maintained.
 LOTO application should be followed while working on UPS, UPS Panels, and battery
bank.
 Sufficient cooling should be maintained inside the UPS room.
 Any major breakdowns should be reported to duty engineer immediately.
 UPS power distribution drawing (approved) should be displayed.

 Resource depletion
 Personal safety

6. CORRECTIVE ACTION IN CASE OF DEVIATION:

 Inform to the maintenance team

 Training & Awareness to be given in case of deviation.
