CECT ABDOMEN
Contrast enhanced axial scans of the abdomen were obtained on 6 slice MDCT scanner
after intravenous contrast administration with positive oral contrast , followed by coronal
reformats. The study reveals:
Observations:
 There is e/o a irregular hypodense non enhancing area of size 3.1 X 3 cm seen in lower
pole of right kidney involving the cortex and medullary regions and reaching up to the
collecting system s/o deep laceration with associated surrounding non enhancing
hyperdense collection of bleed attenuation (HU~ 56) with in perirenal fascia of
maximum thickness ~ 1.5 cm circumferentially along the right kidney s/o perirenal
hematoma . Another similar non enhancing hypodense area of size ~ 2.6 X 1.6 cm
noted in cortex and medullary region of middle pole of right kidney. There is no e/o
extravasation of contrast outside the renal parenchyma . N o e/o vascular injury to
segmental renal artery and vein.
 Liver measures 11cm in cranio-caudal dimension and is normal in attenuation and
enhancement. No focal lesion/ IHBR dilatation noted.
 Gall bladder ispartially distended and appears unremarkable.
 CBD andPV appears normal.
 Spleen appears normal in size (10.6 cm), morphology and enhancement. No focal
lesion is noted.Spleno-portal axis is patent.
 Pancreas appears normal in morphology and enhancement. Pancreatic duct is not
dilated. No evidence of focal lesions seen.
 e/o tiny calculus at lower pole noted at upper pole of right kidney .
 Left kidney is normal in size, morphology and enhancement. No evidence of
hydronephrosis or focal lesion seen.
 Bilateral ureters appears normal in course , calibre and morphology and
enhancement .
 Urinary bladder is distended with normal wall thickness shows contrast rentention in
delayed phases . no e/o extrasvasation of contrast seen.
 No e/o free fluid/significant lymph nodes noted in the abdomen.
 Rest of the visualised bowel loops appear normal.
