 Causes of Crime

1. Poverty - this is one of the biggest reasons for crimes. For example, it is
estimated that the Covid-19 pandemic increased the 88 million people in extreme
poverty to 115 million in 2020, with it additionally rising to 150 million in 2021. As
the rich gets richer and the poor gets poorer the group who suffers have to start
finding means to end the cycle. That is when, unfortunately, the people turn to
illegal means. Adding to this, when the rich flaunt their wealth in front the middle
and lower classes they are forcing them to be more desperate which contributes
to the crime rates getting higher.
2. The Environment – In recent times the youth has been prone to
commit crimes which can be chalked up to them following in their
peers’ footsteps. It is common for college students and high
schoolers to partake in the usage of drugs. Or they may try to
excuse minor illegal activities their friends partake in which is similar
to encouraging said friends. Parents can also be a reason since
many parents enjoy comparing their children to others, the children
could try to impress the parents with results they got from partaking
in crimes.
3. Politics – While this cause is often ignored it is quite important.
It is well known that politicians have tried to harm their competitor or
the people against them. There have been many incidents where
hitmen were hired to do the dirty job. Sometimes the hitmen are just
naïve regular teens or young adults, desperate for a job. Next,
politics not only effect politicians but also the citizens. Occasionally
in certain areas the law made often derive the people of their basic
rights. That is when citizens turn to crimes.
 Effects of Crime

Property values decreasing – nobody wants to live for start a business where crimes had
taken place before. So, landowners will be having a hard time trying to sell their property.

Tourism decreasing – when news of a place being plagues with a high crime rate spreads
people will tend to stay away from the certain area. As a result, tourists will no longer be one
of a helping factors in a place’s economy.

Less celebrations – The locals are not scared of the public areas and even in the comfort of
their own homes. With that amount of fear in everyone all local festivals. hangouts and
meetings will have to be called off.

Less funding – if there were crimes than taxes and other types of money with be put into
those cases and there will be less funding for important things such as education or health.
Causes of migration

Economic reasons – means that people move to a new location with better
economic opportunities. These new places could offer them jobs or chances to
start their own business.

Environmental reasons – People move sometimes to escape the harsh climates or

the results of harsh climates. Examples include people finding new places to live
after a hurricane or flood.
Effects of Migration

When someone is new to an area it is normal to feel out of place and a sense of
not belonging. This may be harmful to their mental health and social life. If it is a
new country or a continent there may be bigger differences in even more
important topics, such as religion or political beliefs. And the advantages the
place have could very well be much more expensive so even if some one
migrated that might not be able to afford it. Lastly, the country will become
overcrowded.
