Returning to school during COVID-19. - Children's Voices

Children express their emotions and discuss the difficulties they experience.

Beginning a new school year is usually an emotional experience, but it is especially so during a
pandemic.
Villasis Elementary School continued to provide remote learning. Children in every city and
town, on the other hand, are eager to see their classmates and teachers in person.
We asked them to describe how they are feeling, how their lives have altered, and how they are
dealing with these problems.

“Naguol ko kay dili nako makakita nilang maam ug

sa akoang mga classmates. Nindut unta nga
magklase mi sa classroom pero dili pa man ta
tugtan. Okay ra gihapon kay naa man gud ang
Covid. Magdaut unya mi kung mag face to face.”

“Akala ko na puwede na ulit ang face to face pero

hindi pa pala. Mahirap kasi kapag hindi si maam ang
nagpapaliwanag. Minsan may mga aralin na hindi
ko nauunawaan at nagtatanong na lamang ako kina
mama at papa. Sana ay matapos na ang pandemya
nang sa ganoon ay puwede na ulit pumasok.”

“I miss everybody already. I thought I'd be able to

meet face to face again, but I haven't been able to
do so yet. It's difficult when Maam won’t be able to
explain the lesson. I find Math more difficult than
before. When I don't understand a lesson, I simply
ask for help. Hopefully, the pandemic will be over
soon, and we will be able to return.”
